Eh, I'm pretty ambivilent about it. At least it not that frickin' horrible Eurobest attempt of a cover that is only saved by Lili herself coming on stage God, I hate that thing The only redeming quality is more footage of Alizée. This one is ok, but I much prefer the real thing. Like RMJ said, if Alizée's cool with it, than I am. But it's not my favorite.

MC Solaar. Pretty cool artist, look him up. YouTube Inch'allah or La Vie est Belle.

Um... That was pretty terrible. I think Alizée is better at covering than being covered. This is almost as bad as the man who sang it all himself! Why is everybody so off key? Is that fashionable?

MC Solaar was the first "serious" French artist I was ever exposed to - back in 10th grade my French teacher brought in one of his CD's for us to listen to.
While I don't especially love this cover of Moi... Lolita (I hated it the first time I heard it, but it has grown on me significantly - especially with video) MC Solaar has excellent skills, and Zazie and Elsa are pretty decent in their own style. I'm also amused by the "back-up dancers," all of whom are major stars in their own right (Order of appearance, they are Liane Foly, Michelle Laroque, Lorie, and Helene Segara)

Yeah, MC Solaar was what made that performance happen.
I noticed something interesting. He's from Senegal, yet the accent to his French is recognizably similar to that of a Jamaican speaking/singing English (hence the "reggae" comments of some people even though he was NOT singing reggae, he was rapping). So I'm thinking that African cadences/accents must have been preserved more strongly in the Caribbean than in the U.S. Am I imagining this, or do others agree?
