On Alizée’s Google Fan Map the USA and Canada combined total just one less than her fans in France.
I think one key element is to get the mainstream media to take notice of her and do a story on her. She needs some mainstream exposure. Let the media know they are missing out on a great story about a singer who has become a phenomenon in the USA through the internet. They like these types of stories. Make them aware of how many plays she has on Youtube. Make them aware of her US fan websites. Make them aware of Americans flying to Paris and Mexico for autograph signings and concerts. The media just loves to jump on the bandwagon. We just need to point the bandwagon out to them. They’ve become rather lazy these days. Hopefully, we have members or acquaintances of members that work in these fields and can help us do this. I, for one, don’t know how to accomplish it because this is far from my area of expertise. But I feel if she got some mainstream exposure, then maybe some TV shows would try to book her on their show or do an interview with her. Her charm will take over from there. I'm thinking anything from Letterman to Leno, Regis to Oprah! I believe the Mexicans said they got her music played in the clubs and it then leaked into the mainstream media. Once most of the USA has seen her, I think she would pick up enough interest here to warrant a concert or a visit of some sort. To be honest, I think RCA is waiting to see if the USA fans will step up to the plate and make this happen. I don’t think her sales have generated enough revenue that they can afford to risk in order to mount a full promotion here. It’s up to us. As Brad said, anything crazy we can do might just get us some notice by the media. Hopefully, someone here will have some other ideas on how to attract the media to tell this story. I think from a journalistic and human interest point of view, the story of Alizée and her American fans is a good one.

Well that settles it. After Alizée's concert in Paris, i'm going to go to California and do some Crusades on the Western Front!

awesome, great idea... are those stickers, or how did you get them stuck on the surface? i need to find a place that makes large stickers (like minimum 12" x 12") and just buy 1000 or so and pass them around to members to stick everywhere

I'm cheap. Scotch tape. You can see it in the pictures.
The Spring Street and Subway Car ones didn't last long, but last I checked Houston Street has been up for several days. Of course I'm trying to post more as time permits, in more recognizable locations. Last edited by Ben; 07-14-2008 at 12:58 AM.. |
