Having a mentor who lived in Canada decades ago isn't much of a connection in regards to selling albums.

While some of my friends from Quebec have heard of Alizée, there's no direct connection. There are only two indirect ones; The connection through Mylène, and the language connection.
Unfortunately, because Quebec is a very isolationist place, those two relations don't count for much more than the relationship that Alizée has with the rest of Canada, and America (pretty much none). There is something, but not much.

I hope with her new single and album she is recognized in America and in Canada.

I have a feeling that we'll have the same problem as we would have with MCE. Gourmandises was internationally acclaimed, and sold what, four million copies worldwide? So it would be not unexpected to see a copy here and there for a bit. However, Mes courants électriques did not do nearly as well, and never really saw Canada. I think that we'll be seeing the same trend.
Of course, once the single comes out, I'll be phoning up every music store in Montréal that I can find to see if they have it, and then I'll be on my way to get it.

I wish she was big in Canada. That would give me a reason to live in Quebec.
