If you add Il jouait du piano debout, L'important c'est d'aimer with Natasha St-Pier, La Isla Bonita, and For me, formidable with Jenifer, then I think you've got the complete list. But you don't prerecord in a studio for a song that will only be played once; of that, I'm certain.

*Thank you fsquared for correcting me; It was Natasha St-Pier, not Vanessa Paradis.

I disagree about the En Concert videos sounding worse though, Arsonyst. I'd say that even though the songs like J'en ai marre and J'ai pas vingt ans lacked their studio flawlessness, there's something about Alizée's voice when she's truly excited and untamed, and I've grown to appreciate it. I now like all her songs from En Concert just as much as the studio ones, even though they might not be as good from a technical viewpoint.

But most importantly... Welcome to the forum! We hope you'll enjoy it here as much as we do, and be sure to check out all the news about Alizée's upcoming Single, Fifty // Sixty!
Thanks, as stated before, I still fully appreciate the live performances...I just find that I prefer listening the smoother voice produced from the studio. Even then, as I listen to more of the En Concert performances, I am developing an ear for it. I'm interested in seeing more responses, although the general consensus seems to be that I have "shallow" hearing Considering how almost no one I tell about Alizée appreciates anything more than her looks, it seems that liking ANY of her music is a rare occurance indeed.

Edit: I have already been keeping up with the news about the new song, and am really looking forward to the new album.

I love her live voice- its beautifully unique(uniquely beautiful?). I can understand why at least the first two MCE singles were always lipsynched- with such athletic dance moves involved it is well near impossible to sing at your best. None of the Gourmandises singles had a specific dance to perform.

It feels like La Isla Bonita is a prerecorded performance, but who knows. I can't see why she would, except for confidence issues.

You can't add them to the list above, since they were prerecorded

Alright, while I wait for RMJ to come and lay down the law, I'll ask you to watch the For Me, Formidable performance (which really is a gem, by the way) and wonder what that legion of violinists and other symphony-players are doing in the background .

Arsonyst, don't say that your hearing is shallow. It's simply a matter of preference, and as you can see you're already warming up to it. And don't fret about not being able to find others who share a taste for Lili's music and not her looks -- The only people I know who like her are my parents, who are pleased to her her whenever I feel like playing it.

Yeah I can see what your saying studio to live versions, no problem with that

As far as about other people not liking it, well.. I guess you can't expect everyone to like her music and especially lots of other American's considering most of what she sings is in french, but just know that we here appreciate her as much as you do.

i think ella elle la, la isla bonita, and Il jouait du piano debout sound obviously pre-recorded while the two duets with natasha and jenifer seem to be live. the three pre-recorded songs are tributes to famous singers and i don't think they would have let alizee go out there and sing in her live voice. otoh, one reason why the duets might not have been pre-recorded in studio was because natasha and jenifer have amazing vocals that can stand up to live performances.

to me, it's pretty clear when alizee sings live because the voice is very different, a little fragile and on a higher pitch. watch the star academy duet with amina or the one she sings with 3 people. even the one in korea. she sounds like a totally different singer in those. the one time it sounded okay was the TOTP italy because her voice was able to be drowned out by louder instruments and music.

Another note, concerning Ella, Elle L'a -- Note the large choir in the background. Did all those people go up there just to appear to sing and clap? Again, trust me, nobody prerecords in a studio for a single performance!

i'm not saying the chorus lip synced, but alizee did. is that impossible? just her vocals could have been recorded. it might have been a demand from the tv station or even part of alizee's camp (MF) that she don't sing live.
