meh, not particularly my taste, but I can still appreciate that they sound like a great band for someone else nonetheless. I'll pass 'em around, thanks

My favorite bands are probably Idlewild and Eels. Idlewild is a Scottish band, and depending on the album you listen to, plays punk, modern rock, and folk rock. The Remote Part is probably their best album.
Eels are really a one-man band, the brainchild of Mark Oliver Everett (sometimes referred to as E). Very indie-rock sounding. Lyrics and often morbid and depressing, as Everett has lost basically his entire family (father died when he was younger, lost his mother to cancer, sister committed suicide, cousins died on a plane in 9/11). He has a wry sense of humor, though, which usually lightens the mood. Electro-Shock Blues is my favorite album, and deals with the death of his mother and sister. It's a tough album to digest, though, so I'd recommend the more straightforward Shootenanny! for an introduction. Another band I really dig is Robbers On High Street. They have two albums, an EP called Fine Lines and a full-length called Tree City. I prefer the EP, as it's more raw, but both are good. I listen to tons of stuff, though. My iPod has 6500+ songs, and I pretty much know them all (unlike people who just collect music for the sake of having huge mp3 libraries - that doesn't interest me). That's part of the reason why I do the radio show...to introduce people to the music I like. Music I'm listening to currently: Metric - Live It Out The Jim Yoshii Pile-Up - Picks Us Apart New Amsterdams - Story Like A Scar Jon Auer - Songs from the Year of Our Demise Muse - Black Holes and Revelations The States - Multiply Not Divide There are other artists I like, such as Jimmy Eat World, Guster, and Ben Folds, but they're all pretty big and you probably don't need me to tell you about them. I also like a TON of random songs, but as I've only heard those songs, I can't vouch for the band's music as a whole. That's what happens when you DJ on the radio...you learn about a ton of new bands, but you only know a few songs by them.

Yeah, of course. I was trying to stay current, though.
It's always bittersweet to listen to Sublime. On one hand, the music is just so fun and carefree (while still being really good)...but then I think about Brad Nowell, and it just sucks that he died so young, and before he saw his band make it huge.
