La Javanaise is one of my favorite performances by her, if not my number one favorite, so I've gotta vote for something acoustic or softer.

Seeing as how Psychédélices is pretty much my favorite album, I wouldn't mind seeing her go back to something like that either. Acoustic performances and songs are my favorite though. What I'd really love to see is her up on the stage singing while playing the guitar. Her voice with an acoustic guitar is golden. I doubt she has time to learn that skill well enough for performances, but I can dream

It's funny how we all were secretly thinking of the next album. As I wrote over at Lillytown/AFC/Alizée Community, or whatever they're now calling it, I'd also really like an album that's simpler and more hushed.

Her performance of La Javanaise has always stuck with me as the style suits her so well. For the next album, a guitar, some drums, and bossa nova will do perfectly well...

Something that's slow but at the same time puts her voice to 100% use, like the "Dis-lui que toi je t'aime" in Israel recently.

Of course it's not her song so she shouldn't only be doing covers, but her voice in it is simply breathtaking.

Something along the lines of that, or as stated a Psych' like album would be neat.

Would anybody else be interested in a song or two influenced by reggae? Not actual reggae songs, just a hint here or there.

Like the Police? They were great.

Sounds like a good plan! I'd love to hear it.

Or like "The Tide Is High" by Blondie? She could do a good job on that one, but, as I recall, a lot of people here really disliked her caribbean-influenced, slower, TV version of JEAM from a couple of years ago (i wasn't one of them).

I voted for the last box - "Something Else", not because I dislike the other choices. Rather, because one of the things I've grown to like most about Lili is how she's developed over the years into an "artist" - showing more and more ability and talent with all sorts of different styles. She should keep on exploring, keep on growing. Far be it from me to be guessing what she should do next. But my guess is, she'll probably surprise us again.

Yeah! Or maybe even something like "Don't Speak" or "Underneath it All" by No Doubt.

Mhmm. To be honest I don't think she'll ever go back to "something like" any of her previous albums - she's changed with each album and never gone back, why should she do it now?

I voted for this one: Dance-Pop (dance music... and Alizee dancing!)

However, if we look at what has worked for her and what she likes we get the following:

The MF/LB era - very good electronic support of her vocals. Very warm electronic sounds (unlike CM - whose sound was not the best match for Alizée's voice). Good layered vocals. Good songs (by this I mean that the songs were melodic on several levels, and the lyrics were music in themselves).

On her own - she wanted to sing songs that have meaning and are not just words to tease or words to carry a tune. I'll guess and say that she wants to sing poetry and songs with lyrical depth and emotive complexity.

She tried twice, but in each one I believe she was not quite able to hit the target she wanted to (the target being albums that are sufficiently popular to enable her to perform live).

I think (again I am guessing) that each time she brought a team on board and then tried for the best she could get. Once on board, she collaborated with them. The result was two artistic works.

However, I believe that in this process she lost sight of a few of the factors that are really important to her. For example, her voice is her instrument, but several of the songs did not bring out her voice as well as they might have been able to. Also, her voice on a recording benefits a lot from layering. This was underutilized. Also they processed her voice too much on several tracks on the last album.

So, I would like to see an album that has some dance songs in it (and hopefully she will dance to a couple of them at least), that has many songs that really bring out her voice effectively, and has a couple that are simply "fun" (catchy tunes that she can play with). To the extent that she can mix the poetry and complexity in with this then great, but if she can't then she will have to forgo some of the complexity in favor of songs that will at least enable her to perform. Eventually she will find a combintion that works for her.

I was thinking softer stuff, then dance stuff, then mylene stuff to get massive sales. So I just decided on a more widely appealing Psych style...
