When I heard her for the first time I immediately thought Kate Bush and Sparks, but she says she never really listened to music as a child so other music has no influence on what she does. Her album is actually one of the very few (non Alizée

) that I adore every song from. Hollywood was the first song that got her noticed in the UK in a big way, she'd been around for quite a while before that but nobody really knew.

I think that she's genuinely different (and not the shallow Lady GaGa "everyone look at me because I'm a freak" kind of different) with one of the few decent voices in mainstream music, and she self-writes all her songs with very insightful and satirical lyrics. I can really relate to this one in particular:

Well, she's good, bb. Very good for her style. But I just don't like that style. The sort of jazzy pop. But she is defnitely good. I wísh her nothing but success!

No worries, nothing's to everyone's taste, many thanks for taking a look though! She's just begun her first tour of North America, so you might hear about her soon. As I said earlier somewhere, she's been identified as a "one to watch for 2010", so I thought I'd may as well go to see her live while I can (and cheaply), especially since she's playing in a venue just down the road from where I live.
