Ok, here are some better pics of me. For two summers, I was able to do NASA-funded geology research on a very large, slow-moving landslide. The first picture is me taking GPS data on a benchmark to measure the slide's movement over time. The second picture is me standing proudly next to a weather station I put together and installed on the landslide to be able to see how the slide's movement is affected by such things as rainstorms and to support other research on the slide. Anyway, here they are:

Did you do this research as a hobby ? If I remember well your profession is a teacher (?)

I did the geology research as a summer job for two summers while I was going to college and just before I did my student teaching. Not exactly a hobby, since I was paid... but much nicer than the warehouse work I'd done for the 4 summers before. It wasn't exactly relaxing at times. Hiking up to the top of the landlside could take up to 3 hours (It's a BIG landslide)!

CFH, didnt they use that machine in the ET movie? so they could call home?
