I like the muted bass hits you added to the intro. I also like the new tempo.
I dont like the fact that you shortened the string thing at 0:15, that was one of my most memorable parts. The synth at the begining is too watery I think, but I also think that its about 2db too loud. If you pull the volume back it wont sound as watery. **add: the volume of the synth is PERFECT in the middle of the song. Exactly what Im trying to say you need on the intro** Idk about the "GO" or whatever thats yelled at 1:19, first its not even on tempo, second if you remove that I think the inclusion of the drums would be enough of a surprise transition. Next part makes no sense. Moi Lolita starts with it saying "un fou rire". Now lets backtrack to the last lyric from Gourmandises, "mais les baisers d'alizee sont de vraies gourmandises". Strung together, that is "but the kisses of alizee are true candy ... a insane laugh" Idk thats just being picky though, stood out to me ;P I LOVE the Lolita part after that. Hate the tape rewind at 2:38. Just insert dead air, you had the right idea but bad implementation :P Once again the next GO or whatever is offbeat and for that reason stands out a lot, if you were to just move it forward itd be atleast acceptable :P At around 4:02 if you're going to have an instrumental part go all for it. Use the phaser to fade out in a unique way, but don't leave the lyrics lingering back there like it is. Thats all I have. The next 3 minutes are dead. Maybe Im playing this up to be more then you want, i dont know what you're going for. I'm attacking this from the viewpoint of a professional, maybe thats not what you're going for. You're definitely making improvements. Btw try Cubase Studio 4 Student edition. Not too bad. Not bad at all. |

I'm no expert and I hope you don't take this too negatively, as I admire your attempt, but IMHO the mix seems just too busy. There seems to be a lack of a consistant beat to tie everything together. Though I may be bias in my assessment because I do enjoy Xelakad's mixes. I've not had the chance to listen to your 3rd edit (w/ DMX mix?) because I've reached the free download limit for today.

Is Xelakad the one who slammed the Alice Deejay "Better Off Alone" lead line underneath L'Alizé?
Neoific, so you do professional music work? That's pretty cool. How did you get into it? Did you say you're doing mainly rap music? |

It would appear so, but if credit was given (I don't know) then I see no problem. Just remember LB used a sampling of Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock - "It Takes Two" in the same song L'Alizé. Besides, I enjoy the Mr. Teaser remix of L'Alizé better. I think it's because the En Concert cover was used.

Nevertheless the more I listen to it the more I like it and quite frankly seem to prefer it now to the original. (Not to the original Lolita though) The "GO" in the song is really DMX yelling c'mon. And the reason it's offbeat is because that's how he does it. Check out some of DMX tracks and you'll see. As to the lyrics strung together I found that pretty funny what it translated to, but then again since when do song lyrics make any sense?
