Why Alizée?

Everyone so far, has eloquently described what they think Alizée has that makes us so enslaven to her, heart and soul.

To simplify it, let's say that Alizée has what some call the "X Factor". This is that unknown quanity and quality, that may be described in many ways by many people, but it simply means that she has something others do not have that draws us to her in a way no other person has the power to do.

We try to describe it in words, but they fall short. It encompasses all things about her, the tangible, and the intangeble, and cannot be totally put into words to include everything about her that we are trying to describe fully. Verbally, we always come up short when trying to explain why we love Alizée in complete terms.

So either call it the "X Factor" , or more appropriately here, the "Alizée Factor"

We all know she is beautiful and seemingly wonderful as a person, but i don't think that's all there is to it. Let's conentrate on the music.

Troughout my life i have listened to all these very diffrent bands that seemingly have no bounds to each other in anyway.

When i was little i listened to various techno bands and my favourite was The Prodigy, a "electronic punkband". Strangely at the same time i was into No Doubt, a popband. Later i started to listen more and more to metal bands and discovered Opeth and Katatonia.

Now what does all these band have in common, it's the melancholic sound.
Shortly after i discovered Alizée i found out about Mylene Farmer which music i love aswell. I have found many other french artist recently and it seems to me that french musicans are good at creating melancholic songs.

Maybe it's just me thinking to much again but im curious.
What do you guys listen to else than Alizée?
Is there maybe something else about Alizée that im missing?
Maybe it's just "love" that's messing with my "judgement"?

What do you guys think?

Tomtentp, I am also very analytical. It bothered me for a long time that I could not understand how Alizée affects me like no one else. I looked at my feelings and tried to break them down so I could comprehend the joy her voice and image bring to me. It is impossible, the feelings don't allow logical thought, they interfere. I have made my peace and just accepted. When I was in Mexico I saw the same effect in others; logical, "manly" men entranced by this tiny girl.

My suggestion to you, let this be a part of your life you don't have to understand. Just enjoy.

shes a rare phenomenon happening and were all not lucky but destined 2 witness something that great happen right in front of our faces, she's a case of impossible 2 resist, and impossible 2 4get. whats weird is she's immortalized herself in the world already and doesnt know it but yet she considers herself mediocre compared 2 madonna. she's a hardcore addiction that were all gonna have 2 bare. sad isnt it?

This is, in fact, the answer. Literally. All of us are under a fairy spell.

The only thing I'm not sure about is if she does it on purpose or if it's a spontaneous result of her power combined with her personality. One of these days I'll have to ask her. But the effect is something I'm sure about, deliberate or not.

To use an analogy from the woman that is in charge of the Sports Illustrated Swim Suit Issue said it best. HBO did a film on the shooting of the Swim Suit Issue back around 84-86. They were showing a picture which happened to make the cover that year. The model was Kathy Ireland in a yellow bikini kneeling on a stone in a pond.
This women made the comment that they had never had a model generate the volume of fan mail like they had the year before with Kathy.
Her reasoning was there was a sweetness that surrounded her. You could just look at her and know there was a very sweet person behind those eyes.

I think the explanation can be applied to Alizée also.

She's the protagonist and the antagonist for the lives of most of us here. As I said, she is the Empress, and I am her Samurai, I live only to serve (kind of hard when you're not alive ), and if she thinks I am against her, or her enemy, then I will gladly take my life.
