Music is a funny thing, if it was only the music itself that made us listen to it, everything would had been alot easier. But nature have a funny way of complicating everything.

Music taste comes down to a huge collection of factors and therefore you can like a particular melody/song or even a whole band out of many reasons not neccesarly because of the music itself.

Have you never experience the following scenario?

Your friend comes up to you and tell you about this new band he discovered, then he starts playing the music over and over as he constantly want to know how good it is.
Even thou you might had liked the music, you build up this hostility towards it, almost as your defending yourself from being 'easily pursuaded'.

Music is so much more than rythm and melody. Just look at the Hip-Hop genre, it rearly comes up a new melody or 'beat' that is good without the rap, it's more normal to see old ones being reused. Here you focus on other things, like attitude and rhymes. Ofc the music is always there, but it is not always the most decisive factor.

So if you want your brother to like Alizée, sneak it on him.

Play the music as 'sthealty' as possible, preferably when he is enjoying himself with something else or is happy in general. This will change the way he experience the music itself.

Show him the videos! No sane man can resist that treatment.

But most importantly, be cool about it, act as if it's no big deal, otherwise you will scare him off.
