It was after I saw her on a video and heard her music that I bought both albums and the DVD. Even though I now have both songs, I will buy the the third album when it comes out. Copying songs is nothing new, my dad told me that he used to hold a microphone up to the speaker on his radio so he could copy it to his cassette player and listen to it in his car. Later, when entire albums came out in cassette, he bought those.

I agree, and that's the way I am too. If I like an artist and their upcoming work gets leaked, curiosity usually takes me over and I end up checking it out before it officially comes out. However, when the real deal comes out officially, I buy it anyway to show support. I don't know, maybe that's what makes one a true fan.

Unfortunately, you are probably right. There are lots of people out there who use the fact that it's available for free as an excuse not to buy it. But then again, can these be called true fans? And by the way, Alizee is not the only one to whom this is happening, there are numerous other artists who fall victim to this very thing.

We don't actually have the final versions of either of these songs. What we're hearing is obviously a rough studio cut. Both of them surely went through improvements between when they were stolen from the studio and when we'll hear them in final. So you still have every reason to buy the album at least.

At this point, my feeling is she's more worried about how her new music will be received than about this piracy crap. I'm sure she doesn't like the fact that the songs were stolen, but it's not going to break her. It happens to everybody.

It will be received very well. It will be a success. All of this nonsense will be no more than a minor hiccup in time.

I have to agree. In fact, it won't be the leaked content that the label will be worried about, but bootlegs of the final version once it is released. The leaked content doesn't hit the revenue stream. Pirated versions of the released version...now that can hurt.

ya I totally agree. we need to know what to expect before buying the album. I have downloaded almost all her songs but im still going to buy her albums.

I think about one posibility that the lone sourse of the leak is Alizee herself. Why? Because she and her friends can not adequately assess prospects of her songs. So the most right response Lili can get is from her fans. She may be deliberately allowed the leak and now reads our discussions and makes decisions how best do work. Note, failed released single could cost very much.
Thats why there is a whole industry of beginning singers who allow listen their songs for free.

I think we're dealing with a fairly special case here, with Alizee. It's been years since there has been any new material from her. She's dumped her old songwriting team for several new artists whose songs may not be familiar to us. She's undergone massive life changes : she's left her teens, gotten married (and, as far as I can tell, is still happily so, thank god) and become a Mom. The fan base (at least those here) have been starved for any word at all, any confirmable news, any tiny taste of something new from her. It's been all too easy to become disillusioned, with so little news for so very long.

These "leaks" haven't made the rounds of the truly mainstream channels - they've been pretty much restricted to the devoted fanbase. Worldwide news hasn't been made because a song or two has been "leaked", like you would expect from the same sort of leak by, say, Madonna or Prince. If you assess the monetary damages done by these leaks, it's extremely minimal - small enough, in fact, that some folks believe these were targeted leaks, coming from "the inside" as a way to let the true fans know that Alizee really is listening.

The scope of these leaks is narrow enough that it's a pretty sure bet that the vast majority of people who have the leaked songs are now even more enthusiastic for buying the new CD. In Alizee's case, this situation is very much "win, win", IMHO.

I worried about Alizee. And I scare that she'll become just another young victim of stars fatigue. Because this little girl are called Alizee, she has kind of stigma, she cannot say stop, i'm fed up, I want different life. Like many others (she is not special case) she can do now only two things: continue previous work (I mean career of popsinger), or do nothing. Get merried and give birth is some kind of salvage she have taken to avoid falling from the sky and slashing on the ground.
But become an adult it is not a requirement for her. I now some people who got merried, have children but still feell like a child, have dreams...
So advice for Alizee: please, plus grandir.
