Default Like it so far!

Deep, I'm reading this, and I'm liking it a lot! Like Ben said, it's not really my normal type of thing, but it's remarkable how it's set it modern times, with all this ancient magic stuff going on. All the while, it has almost nothing in common with the fanciful "Wizarding World of Harry Potter". Excellent work, my friend!

Also remarkable is how Lilly is creeping into the culture in literature (like yours), in World of Warcraft, and who knows how many other ways. It's only a matter of time before they find out that listening to Alizée is the cure for cancer, too.

I'll be happy to pick up a copy if a physical book is released.

When the print version comes out, it will be available here: http://www.wordclay.com/BookStore/Bo...x?bookid=56646

I'll repost this and add it to my signature when it's actually ready.

Thanks for your encouragement, everyone!

Congrats on your book Deep. I have heard about your personal struggles from way back when I first joined this site (I remember you very well from the very first thread I started and I am glad that Alizee helped you get overcome it. I have always found your posts as thoughtful and well written. Good luck in this new year and I wish well in your future endeavors. I will certainly try to read through the first chapters when I get some time from my busy life. Congrats again.

I used to be also. However, I now have a large screen monitor and can recline, put my feet up, and read. I now find it easier than even reading a conventional bound volume.

By the way, Deep's book is GREAT!

Thumbs up Buy this book, or the puppy gets it!

Simply stated, this book is the best book ever written. Here's ten reasons why you need to get it:

1) It's about magic in the modern world.
2) It's set here in the U. S.
3) It features a character based on our mutual favorite inspiration and muse!
4) It's written by someone you all know and love!
5) I repeat, you all know a real author! Ain't that a trip!
6) You should get this book, 'cuz it's excellent!
7) It doesn't even cost very much!
8) The Authors name: Deepwaters! How cool can it get?
9) The Awesome Book's Title: The Stairway To Nowhere.
10) You can get it here, online! The Stairway To Nowhere (a novel with a tribute to Alizée): http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/8357

So go! Get this book! You, too, can be enjoying it within minutes! And then we can start a thread where we all can discuss it together! And that would be awesome, too! (wow, that's an eleventh reason!)

Great job, Deep! Go, Deep!

Congrats, Deep! That's awesome! This gives me an excuse to finally test out the Stanza and Kindle apps on my iTouch. I'll let you know how it goes.

Incidentally, how did you find working with Smashwords? I've been working on something since November (it started out as a NaNoWriMo novel, but I've decided to stick with it) and have been curious about e-publishing myself. Granted, I'm only on the first draft, but it's never to early to consider your options...

The good: Smashwords is incredibly easy to work with. Their instructions on how to format the book are easy to follow, and their program for converting it to on-line text is fantastic.

The bad: It's harder to get a lot of traffic with them than it would be with, say, Amazon, because they're not that well known, so they don't get a gazillion browsers every day. BUT --

The good: there's no exclusive contract with them or anything, so if you publish your book with them you can feel free to do so with others, too.

In short, highly recommended, but don't rely on them as your sole publisher. Then again, don't rely on anyone as your sole publisher. It's a new world out there for writers. In fact, check out my first blog entry, which is on that very subject. I will never publish in the conventional fashion. The publishing house as we have known it is a dinosaur heading for death. I'll publish in print, not just digitally (Stairway will be coming out in print probably next week)but always print-on-demand, under MY control not that of some publishing tyrant.

Thanks for the kind words, Chuck and Rev.
