Considering only the language itself, I would say nothing. To be honest I have always hated French. Now I like it only because of Alizée.
But speaking about her, in my opinion, when she sings, she is great. Almost always. But when she sings in French, she is legendary. I think she manages to convey her feelings and emotions perfectly while singing in French. When she sings in English, I find her a bit clumsy and cold, as though she is not comfortable. And I suppose her timbre is more suitable to a delicate language like French.

And there is also the question of "cultural impact": a French girl/woman is more unusual and exotic for people that are so used to English-speaking songs/movies/TV shows. It is a very peculiar thing about her (for the international market), that creates a spark of interest immediately.

Edit:

Suppose you go on a date with Alizee. Would you rather go on a date with an Alizee who speaks French but cannot speak English, or would you rather go on a date with an Alizee who speaks English but cannot speak French?

I'd rather go on a date with Alizee who speaks English rather than French. The date would be much more fun because I could talk to her!

How about you??
If I knew French, I would choose it

Anyway yes, I rather go on this date with Alizée who speaks English. But only because this way I could talk to her... About this example, there could be whatever language instead of French, it's obvious that I would even learn Chinese if I had a date with Alizée and that was the only way to speak with her. :P

But if I could choose, I would be OK with her French. Because it is "the language of Alizée" to me now. I can't imagine her speaking other languages without her cute French accent.

Silencio---

I really like your idea about the "chip"!

I'm sure you've noticed how Alizee seems to be looking right at you in photographs. Apparently, Alizee is able to create a special look in her eyes on command--- something that other performers (such as Taylor Swift) are unable to do. This is also the "chip", IMO.

I discovered Alizee in March 2018, and I've never seen anything like her. She has one of the most feminine faces I've ever seen--- plus, she's got the "chip."

I just realized that my favourite song by Yello applies to Alizée:
Quote:
You drive me crazy
You're lazy
Out of my mind
Cause you're a diva
I'm a believer

"Thought that I was going crazy
Just havin' one those days, yeah
Didn't know what to do
Then there was you
And everything went from wrong to right
And the stars came out to fill up the sky
The music you were playin' really blew my mind
It was love at first sight"

I chose this live performance because it also was recorded in 2003 when Alizee did the En-Concert Tour.

Good choice, kulli! I like Kylie. My favourite song by her is "Sensitized", which I think is highly underrated. The music is based on a sample from "Bonnie and Clyde" by Serge Gainsbourg and Brigitte Bardot, but Kylie has taken the song to new heights.

I must have died and gone to heaven
'Cos it was a quarter past eleven
On a Saturday in 1999
Right across on where I'm standing
On a dance floor she was landing
It was clear that she was from another time
Like some baby Barbarella
With the stars as her umbrella
She asked me if I liked to magnetize
Do I have to go star-trekking
'Cos it's you I should be checking
So she laser beamed me with her cosmic eyes

Here's my favourite song by Kylie and it's the perfect song for this thread.... except in the place of boy, we need to substitute girl.

I can't get you (Alizée) out of my head.

It's great that Kylie beat breast cancer that she was diagnosed with back in 2005.

I have to put the next clip here despite the fact that its music and video may seem too 'heavy' for someone. The song just refers to Alizée who is die Sonne for all of us, but the video sequence is of particular value here because it best describes what happened to her over the past few years.

The key to the interpretation is as follows:

the mine / the mountain - the Internet
the miners - we, Alizée fans
jackhammers, sledgehammers, pickaxes etc. - keyboards, mice, touchscreens etc.
the girl - Alizée
the sparkling substance - dancing
the tub - DALS
the glass coffin - Instagram
the apples - singing, 1 apple = 1 song

Default Le nouvel album?

This is what happens to Alizée when someone asks her about (or hints at) a new album.

Le nouvel album?
