BTW the only reason they couldn't beat the ship at first was because they were using crappy F-18 Hornets that Marines use on super low budget. An air force air man in an F-16 or F-15 would've took it down no problem, with shields . Marine Aviators should let us airmen do the job next time

cheap and easy don't mean anything about quality just look at the 1911's (I know different than planes still under same concept) they have been made since well 1911 and are still one of the most popular guns in the world and you can buy them from anywhere between $400-$2000 but the $400 one will function to the same extent that a $2000 one will the $2000 one just has more bells and whistles

either way it has to do with a persons skill in an area of what he is doing

I'm calling F-18s cheap as in, they are cutting corners to make it cheaper. The navy made a huge mistake retiring the F-14 Tomcats and replacing it with crappy F-18 Super Hornets. Boeing is only good with Bombers and Civilian planes thats it. i would never trust my life with an F-18, there's so many jets that we and our Allies or are Enemies have that are a trillion times better.
About the skill, not always true Jung man. You can be the best dog fighter and best ace in the world, but if your in an F-18 vs a Su-27, Euro Fighter Tyhoon, MIG-29, Rafale, F-15E, F-35, or F-22 your most likely not winning that fight no matter how good you are. Those platforms can out climb, out turn, out dive, out maneuver and just totally over power the the F-18 in every single way. The F-18 ace has to hope for the lucky 1 second lock with a sidewinder and fire, but the avionics on the other jets are wayyyyyy better than the F-18's so chances are they will have a lock on you before you can lock on to them.

true in ways but still skill is a huge factor in any type of fighting may not be as much in dog fights anymore (as i said earlier my knowledge on planes in limited) but a far superior pilot has a nice edge on the less skilled

And I'm not saying the F-18 is the best but it is adequate
