Haha she has Radiohead's "All I need" on there. You know what Radiohead song reminds me of her? CREEP. (Her being the object of affection, not the creep, obviously. If anything, I'M the creep).

Alizée from da 'hood

4 Avril 2010... (rires)
Quick & dirty English translation follows
4 April 2010... Two years after "PSYCHÉDÉLICES", her third album which has not as successful as hoped, Alizée is back. The former protected by Mylène Farmer, revealed by the international board "Moi ... Lolita" now has a ten year career, and unveils a new album with retro influences and electro. Called "A Child of the Century", the album was released on Monday, preceded by the single "The Hills (Never Leave You)". To mark the release of the album, Alizée responded to Ozap questions... A hip-hop album one day then? Why not, but only with Jay-Z then. That's all! (laughs)
We all know that many Alizée songs and symbols reference her name, either its sound, or its meaning as a feminized form of "tropical trade wind" in French. In the latter regard, one discovers that there is a popular line of alcoholic drinks, nearly all of them liqueurs, called Alizé. (The Wikipedia article reports that the first of them was introduced to the world the same year as was Alizée herself, namely 1984.) The brand nearly died until almost a decade later, when rap superstar Tupac Shakur sang about it. For years thereafter, it was a popular reference in rap music. This includes a cynically unromantic 1998 Jay-Z hit, whose unexpurgated title is Can I Get A Fuck You, with a theme succinctly captured by these constituent lyrics:
If I wasn't ah, eight figure nigga by the name of Jigga would you come around me or would you clown me?
The song's reference to Alizé comes approximately 2 minutes into the 5-minute track, and consists of these words:
I like a, lot of Pravada, Alizé and Baca
It would seem I didn't miss terribly much worth hearing by abstaining from the consumption of music in the 1990s!
STILL one after all these years...
Last edited by FanDeAliFee; 06-19-2010 at 06:46 PM.. Haha. Rihanna's partial bob sort of reminds me of Gourmandices era Alizèe.
Still don't really understand why she likes Jay-Z's work though. Did she ever mention any specifics during interviews? (Something deeper than "I like it"?) |
