It is known that Bertelsmann wants to pull out of the record business.
That's going on for a long time and no secret. But till now there is nothing (not even a rumour) going around to support that to something concrete. So the move to Jive/Epic as suggested, is still a persistent rumour imho. |

Well, yes, there's no question that Sony bought out the other half of the Sony/Bertelsmann merger, but what of RCA and this so called Jive/Epic? I don't know. Haven't read anything about that stuff except what's on these forums.
Even Sony's web site still says 50% Sony, 50% BMG; so, they just aren't updating this stuff expeditiously. In so much as it could make any difference to me, I will go ahead and fully believe that Alizée is changing record labels again in so far as RCA is concerned. Much of what she has done has already had the Sony/BMG label on it anyway. So, my question would be, what difference does RCA really make? I assume it makes a big difference, but how exactly I don't know.

Oeeeffff...
I just called the guy who has some inside information of Bertelsmann group and it seems that they were waiting for an EU approval for that deal. That was agreed last week. So it seems to be indeed that Bertelsmann officially has pulled out from Sony/bmg. I guess it is shuffling artists from BMG labels to the Sony labels. What it means? Dunno. Probably new management? Or the same moving to Sony too? Time will tell I suppose. But the Jive/Epic story I still don't buy till I've seen some evidence. (and that is not some vague info from a French fan site that stays remarkable silent about it) Last edited by Just a Guest; 09-21-2008 at 05:55 PM.. Reason: typo.... |
