No, the American paparazzi are not that bad. They KNOW they will get sued into oblivion if they pulled any stunts like that. The French paparazzi can't be all that great either. Look at the photo of Alizée flipping one of them off. You think she did it just because someone was taking a picture of her? I bet the photographer shouted something nasty at her to lure her into doing that. They can't sell a photo of her just walking down the street, it needs to be something "news worthy" (or tabloid-worthy anyway).

There are always rotten apples in every group. I think the paparazzi are a mixed blessing. Without them we would not get to see the celebrities we like as much, but then you have the scum like the group in Asia. It's also not great that they try to get the celebrities in compromising situations.

Then again they are also useful if you run out of gas... right Britney?

she didn't seem happy in all of the asian vids and almost half the happiness in all of the out side France vids.

A life on every face
And that's a change, till I'm finally left with an eight
Tell me to react, I just stare
Maybe I don't know if I should change
A feeling that we share...

Number me in haste, it's a shame
This eagerness to change
It's a shame..."

I wonder how happy/unhappy Alizée would be if she came to the US for publicity or something. Lol her getting married in Las Vegas probably had it's upside, no one really knew of her in the US and the paparazzi here don't care about foreign stars who don't speak English (sadly seems like the general public is the same way...don't care about anyone who isn't like them in a sense, their loss imo).

A quote from myself:

"People are ignorant. People don't care. They are too conservative. Too proud to admit that something so foreign, so far from the norm that it would be criticised by the masses (ironic word in this context - might as well say "by themselves"), may bring them joy and a new outlook on life. It just makes me appreciate it even more that I've found this website."

Same idea, MiamMiam. Right there with you. Besides, we aren't people. We're Alizée fans. There's a difference! A BIG ONE!!

That is a very nice quote SupaKrupa, and I totally agree with it. I really am so glad that I found out about Alizée and this website, as she and a bunch of other reasons got me really interested in France and everything about it. I am so appreciative that I'm actually interested in learning about another culture, and hopefully at some point immersing myself in it. Just proves you don't have to be a guy to have a girl influence you (though she doesn't influence me the way she does the majority of you I would assume ). I just find it so sad and disheartening how it seems the majority of the people in the US, or at least those in the limelight that constitute this country in terms of those who influence the public these days (people like Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, bleh lol), don't really take the time to appreciate other cultures around them, nor do they even set good examples these days. Like other people have said before, the American celebrities don't even seem to appreciate their fans, I feel that they even look upon their fans as burdens. Anyhow now that I've rambled long enough, I just wanted to say I just love this site because I really do feel that everyone here knows what I'm thinking, and what everyone else is thinking. It's a nice feeling

You've never seen the actors from Firefly then! Some of them have been known to show up at fan parties unannounced to hang out with them.

The great thing about them acting like this is that the fans are more mellow towards them, ie. they don't get mobbed, email boxes stuffed with crap, etc. If they kept to themselves and then did something like that the fans would go crazy, they would need security, etc. And you won't find a more rabid fan base then the Firefly/Serenity fans.

I mentioned in another thread about the effect this has on the fans. It may seem counter-intuitive, but the more the actors interact with the fans the more privacy and breathing room they get.

Imagine for a moment Alizée walking into a room full of fans, they would all try to see/talk to her at once, she would get mobbed. Everyone would try to get their own small voice heard before she leaves again. Now fast forward 5 hours. Same room. Same fans. She's still there. Nobody is bothering her. Why not? Because the fans are used to her presence. They know they can talk to her whenever... no rush.

The same thing applies to the message boards, some of the actors post on a daily bases, everyone leaves them alone. They get a great deal more respect.

I'd believe it, I remember hearing from somebody else too that they have a loyal fanbase and the actors do all kinds of great stuff for 'em.

...and this post reminds me of Mylène's California song. The video might throw you off, but reading about the translation here it paints a pretty cool picture about what it's being like out of her element where she's not so much of a celebrity. At first I thought she had a negative impression of California, but there are parts in there that are so well done it gives me goosebumps sometimes, many shared vibes that couldn't have come talking about any other place.

I feel so sorry for those who are/were a huge fan of somone like B.Spears. I can't and don't want to imagine what it would be like if Alizée went spastic and started bashing cars with umbrellas. I do hope that no one here has gone through such a phase but if so, sorry to bring it up.

Oh wow I never really checked out Mylene's songs, but the lyrics to that one paint a very clear picture, and they're quite accurate I have to say.
