I still think it's odd how it's been 9 years and there's been hardly any visible progress. I mean, if it's scheduled to be completed in 2 years.. and after 9 years this is all they've completed.

it hasn't been 9 years because it took 2 years just to clean the site up, so now it is 2003 and then it took another 2 yrs to get a design proposal approved its now 2005 and then another year to redesign the current design because it was considered unsafe, it is now 2006. Then the rescission gets really bad delaying construction even further and it isnt untill 2007 that construction really begins. So we are talking about 3 years of actual construction on what is literally the worlds strongest building which is why it is taking longer than most projects. As for visible progress, how can you say that, the thing is nearly 300 feet tall right now, that's about 17% of its total height and it looks even bigger in person! Just look at it compared to the school bus and the Verizon Building behind it!

yea I know, I was down at the site last week looking up at the 300ft they have completed and it just looks massive. The old towers will be forever remember in the 2 reflecting pools they are building. You can see them take shape here....

WE ARE HALF WAY PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE ARE AT FLOOR 62 out of 104 real floors, the building will have 108 floors but 4 will be mechanical floors. We are currently at about 650ft in the sky.... 718 more feet to the roof and then a 408ft spire to give us a total height of 1776 feet! Its supposed to be topped out by the end of next yr *December 2011*

yea it is I love it.... there's so much of the new and so much the old perfectly blended.... I was born and raised in NYC lived there for all my life until I started college 3 yrs ago and im still amazed every time I come home. I come home tomorrow so im ready to be amazed again
