It's not like they're forced into poverty and have to live away from the cities, many of them are heirs of ancient families of land owners, nobles or rich winemakers who've got to take care of their familial property.

I'm hoping you didn't take my comments on those small communities up in the mountains as the residents living in poverty. I meant the opposite as being those with rich Corsican culture. The one point many don't know about Corsica is during WWII the Axis and Allies mostly ignored the island so the infrastructure never saw the destruction of war that most of Europe endured.
