Although my family considers itself to be Irish because we are Catholics and that's where our immigrants from the old country came from, our family name is clearly Scotch, and it's not difficult to trace that name back to the very town in Scotland where it originated.

Having said that, when I hear a Scotsman speak English this is what I hear.

Golf. A waste of a good walk…

Oh dear god, I love that one...

Yep, we do really get kind of “typecast”, don’t we…

Simpsons willie - damn Scots!

The Many Accents Of Sean Connery

“Many accents”, yeah, right. He has “one”, and that is a gentle “Edinburgh” accent…

< Sigh. Now everyone thinks that Russian Submarine Commanders have bad Scots accents >

People keep telling me that they think that I sound very like him, but to be honest, not really. My accent is from the same area, but I sound a bit more like Sam Heughan, in that my accent sounds more “South Western”, than “Lowland”...

Do miss Scotland, sometimes, I must admit…

Beautiful, tiny little country, full of friendly, talented, very funny people…

I only had the chance to visit Scotland once, when I was a teenager. I loved it. I’ve always been interested in history, and the history of Scotland and England is particularly fascinating to me. I got to tour some wonderful historic places, like Holyrood Palace. I enjoyed driving around Loch Ness, hoping for a glimpse of Nessie (I was a teenager, remember!).
Great memories of a lovely country.

Would you count these folks among their number?

(I kid, of course)

Oh dear god…

Well…

Emm…

<Consults my “diaries”, just in case >

It was, kind of, “before” my time, and I have this policy of NOT apologizing for things, that I wasn’t directly involved in…

Seriously, for someone of my “nationality”, the period of around the 4th of July is just, to be honest, a total “pain”. All you hear, from normally “sane”, “rational” adults is literally, “na na na nana, wee beeat you”…

Now, I get invited to a lot of these “gatherings”, and my usual response to such an “invite”, is usually something in the same “vein” as this little “number”…

You get the idea!?

Anything, rather than “upset” someone, and then have to put up with the“usual” “kerfuffle”…

<sigh>

Just as long as they don't start on about the War of 1812...

For that's a different matter...

I'm sure you've all heard the tune I'm posting below. You've probably heard it several hundred times because Greg and Alizee do a dance routine by it. The thing that most catches my attention is the voice of the young lady who sings it. Her professional name is Christine. If I didn't know better, I would swear Alizee was singing that song.

That explains the dance they did. It seems Héloïse Adelaïde Letissier professionally known as Christine and the Queens or simply Chris, is a French singer, songwriter and producer is very accomplished.
