FTR, I've never seen or read Twilight and so can't really comment on it. I just am not surprised that Alizée likes it because it's reputedly romantic and about supernatural stuff, which strikes me as a good combination for attracting her interest.

Ha Ha yeah ! The "Introduce Yourself" thread was going off topic into a discussion about Alizée's English, so I sort of steered that conversation over to this "Alizée's English" thread. Seems like a smart thing to do, right? Wrong ! Because now it almost immediately turned this thread into a Twilight thread. We are hopeless at staying on topic at AAm.

Well, what is there to say about Alizée's command of English? She's not fluent, but she speaks the language moderately well, and her French accent is adorable. There. Done. Nothing more to say.
So naturally it spins off into other subjects, such as her taste in literature, television, and men.

Actually, all kidding aside, Lizbel asked the following question:

I agree with Lizbel. Alizée's accent is certainly noticeable but it's not "awful." In fact, when you consider how widely English pronunciation varies among native Anglophones, the only way that a foreign accent should be considered "awful" in my opinion is if one can't be understood. I can understand Alizée's English without difficulty. I find it easier to understand her than I do someone from London's East End who is speaking rapidly. As for the lyrics of the English songs in Alizée's albums, I am not really happy with any of them to be honest. Limelight is the best in that it avoids the pure awkwardness of some of the expressions in I'm Not Twenty and I'm Fed Up. But it's still not that good. (The music of Limelight is excellent, though.) It's very difficult to write poetry (which is what song lyrics are) in a foreign language. In the future, if Alizée wishes to sing songs of her own (not covers) in English, I would suggest that she get an English-speaking poet to write them. Me, for example.
