The overall movie was pure thrill, if you're seeking overtly romantic dramedy's or tragic tales, don't watch it. Gotta see this. I'm a huge fan of one of the writers, J. Michael Straczynski. Met him a few times, corresponded via email a few more, awesome dude. Though this is a real departure for him, usually his scripts are wordy and not action oriented. Apparently the Wachowski Brothers came to him in a bind and needed the entire script re-written over one long weekend. The man is a writing machine!

Wow -- I didn't know JMS was involved with this movie. I'll have to check it out. I've had the pleasure of meeting him a couple of times too. (I think the first time was the year the pilot for Babylon 5 first aired.) Cool guy.

im slightly hesitant about that movie.. as much as i love martial arts and such fighting.. swinging swords against submachine guns??? oh come on!
the only time i enjoyed that was in a korean movie that roughly translates of "Heaven's Soldiers"

It's about these North Korean and South Korean soldiers that accidentally go back in time when ancient japan is invading korea.
best parts of the movie:

-using a sniper against a charging samurai guy

-confused japenese soldiers fighting over a grenade until it detonates

-using a claymore mine to wipe out a cavalry charge

-tossing grenades down a cliff as the japenese charge through it

-using AK47s and M16s against a line of marching japenese huddled up
behind wooden/woven shields.

That just...literally sums out how much it would be awesome to go back in time with modern technology, and play God.

Most of the movie is Ninjas vs. Ninjas, hardly any guns are used, except in the last scene (no spoilers) where it becomes quite important to how the ending arrives. Lol. xD

ahhh, i see. the part i saw on the trailer was a SWAT guy going "oh crap.. NINJAS!" and ninjas on a rooftop or something with explosions everywhere.

Anyone who likes the new film but hasn't seen the old ones really needs to check out Wrath of Khan. So much of the new movie is riffing off that. Many, many allusions.
