I know the last post on this topic was in December '06, but I discovered something that may be common knowledge to most people, but I'll tell you anyway. If you insert any audio CD while playing Quake 1, the music on the CD will play. This even works on the shareware episode.
Super old thread, and the same happens when loading a game in Counter-Strike if there is a music cd in the tray.
