Well, there is that (somewhat cynical) saying about women that they chase the men that they cannot have. You can't say that it is true about these two because Gregoire had a crush on Alizee for years and certainly would not resist the opportunity to be with her. They seem to have a special relationship.

Based upon what Alizee has said about herself, she would probably need a lot of attention from her guy, which would probably qualify her as high maintenance in some respects. Gregoire seems perfectly content in giving her what she needs. She looks so happy now. I wish them a lifetime of happiness together.

Think of all the men Alizée could have had. If she wanted, she could have married a billionaire, but obviously that’s not what she was looking for.

It’s believed she left her first husband, Jeremy, because he was unfaithful. Once free again, men no doubt hit on her constantly. For a shy person that could be an ordeal. Alizée formed a close relationship with Tal, another woman, a relationship that might have been lesbian. With Tal, Alizée appeared exceptionally vulnerable. Although on stage she appeared self-assured, I don’t think she was happy or confident after leaving Jeremy. It was a time for self-mutilation, a time for tattoos.

When she agreed to enter DALS, she insisted on having a gay partner. She didn't want to deal with some bloke hitting on her. Initially she rejected Gregorie. DALS had to persuade her to accept him. A rumor surfaced that Greg was gay. I don’t know where that came from. It would be interesting if DALS invented it to reassure Alizée so she would accept him. Once she did, Greg conjured his magic. Watching him work with our girl, we see him react to her every emotional nuance. What woman wouldn’t be charmed by the guy? Alizee repeatedly told Greg she couldn't do this or that. She didn't have enough confidence. Greg insisted she could do anything and he showed her how. The next thing we see is Alizee taming lions.

Then we see a double sacrifice.

Greg got a new DALS partner: Natalie Péchalat: a beautiful, charming ice dancer, two-time World bronze medalist, two-time European champion, and a five-time French national champion. Natalie has similar physical qualities as Alizée. She’s Greg’s type of woman. At times it’s difficult to tell whether he’s dancing with Natalie or Alizée. The tip-off is that Natalie’s the better dancer. Discomforted watching her man dance half-naked with a gorgeous hardly-clad young woman--all that skin-to-skin contact was unnerving—drove Alizée to break her well-behaved public image to embarrass herself by throwing a jealous tantrum behind the scenes. We don’t know the details, but it was scandalous enough to make the news. She humiliated herself fighting for her love. In response, Gregorie made a chivalrous sacrifice by quitting DALS, putting his career at risk to break away from Natalie and demonstrate his love for Alizée. The next thing we know, they’re getting married. There couldn’t be a better Romeo and Juliet.

...is off the mark. Alizée needed a friend, and so did Tal during DALS. For awhile, there was real friendship there. Alizée in some ways acted like an older sister to Tal - a little protective of her. I'm just sorry that they ended up going on different paths. I wonder where the friendship stands now? Do they still communicate?
