What a fantastic introductory post and happy to have you onboard!

I have to admit I am a little jealous of those who have met Alizee in person.

I'm a very longtime fan of Alizée. I don't use social media very much but I recently started making 4K AI upscales of Alizée performances and interviews so came looking for somewhere to share them - I've made a new thread in the "Media" section.

Alizée's music is actually especially good for this, because the lyrics are often very deep and have a lot of double meanings, metaphors, similie etc and also reflect a lot of the differences between French and British/American understandings of certain cultural experiences. I've challenged myself to be able to learn and sing along with all of her songs, and also to translate them all into English, but rather than be direct literal translations (which lose a lot) to write poetic lyrics that give the same feeling, themes etc.
Hi Alizée 4K!
I thoroughly enjoyed your introduction! This forum has been around for a long time, and it goes through periods of time when there is a lot of activity, and other times—like lately, when Alizée has not been as visible—of relative quiet.
Many of us check in regularly even if we don’t have a lot to post.

It’s fascinating that you have worked on translations of Alizée’s lyrics. We’ve discussed many of them in here, and several of us have even paid translators to help us understand them.

I look forward to reading your posts and also what you’ve shared in the Media section.
Welcome!

Welcome!
Thank you for the kind message Bamagirl! Yes I understand that the forum will not always be super busy, that's a good thing for me as I don't have a lot of time to be constantly checking social media etc! And of course Alizée has a lot more relaxed and settled family and professional life than in previous times so news will be slower. I'm sure she is very happy to still have such a dedicated fan base who is still supporting and interested in her career

Default Marshal Davout ( redeux )

I've decided to re-do my "NewMembers' as my cover may be "blown" anyway as I am getting ready to publish a book and due to other circumstances.
I am rather an odd fellow; a I had a miss-spent youth studying History, Playing Chess ( I taught myself ), and Playing games as a "Gamer". One girl's comment was that I was too "Bookish" and almost like a Teacher ! ( when I had asked her out. Ha ! ) Having spent some time on a Farm and Ranch where I rode horses and Fed the horses at the crack of Dawn for the Cowboys ( my father owned half a ranch and sent me out there to "toughen me up" ! ) I decided that the weather; hot in the summers and Blizzards in the winter was not to my taste; I got a job as a Teller in a Bank; and eventually promoted to a "Head Teller" who gives money out of the vault to the other tellers. So I am familiar with Banking and Currency ! Tellers don't get paid much salary and there is a lot of interface with customers. so next I went into IT and "learned to Code" as they said. And I began to get jobs in Mainframe Computers ( the Horrors , Ha ! ) and then Desktop Computers Client-Server ! So I used to be completely on top of things in the IT world !
But then the war came along; and since I was single ( I did not know of Alizee at the time ) they wanted me for the Army; but I decided to circumvent them and joined the Air Force ( Not the Navy as I couldn't swim and didn't want to learn fast ! ) My service was basically uneventful; except for getting Mortared and Rocketed at times; and I just did what I was told and ended up never being on report or being disciplined ! I worked on Prop and Jet Aircraft as a General Mechanic; and assisted the Specialists. At one point I helped load Bombs on an aircraft as we didn't have a "Bomb loader" at that point ! So I was Honorably Discharged ! (They would have given me a Bonus of $6,500 to re-enlist; however they would have sent me back to the war at that point and I wasn't going to do that ! ) You can't spend money if you are dead ! Ha ! So I went back to my IT jobs working for companies as a contractor ( mostly on Navy Contracts; even though I had been in the Air Force ) I've therefore had a "Secret" Clearance And I know the names and bases of British ships and facilities as I worked for NATO ( although my knowledge is 'dated' now ). On one base I wrote the police ticketing program and therefore had access to the databases; so for at least one girl I made her parking ticket "go away"; if she went to the movies with me ! Ha ! Along the way I got into Web Development and keeping web sites up as they need constant maintenance and also Web Support; where you take care of web sites if they Mal-Function ! So I have had a varied career !. Presently I am Semi-Retired and writing books; as I presently have about 5 or 6 books in my head to write and one is almost done. I have already published two Phamplets on Amazon; but they are small in size and nobody seems to read them ? You can see samples of my writing on alizee america; as I have made up stories on many of the videos of Alizee and Mylene Farmer; as when i see a video; I automatically make up a story about It ( Hopefully they will Forgive me; if they ever catch up to me; as I Love Alizee and like Mylene a lot ! ) this is all I can think of at the moment !

Thank You Alizee 4 K ! I guess I've dodged a few "Bullets" in my time; been bucked off a Horse, woke up staring at the blue skies and clouds! Ha ! In the pastures; I've had my horse up to full-scale out of control Cavalry Charge; just for the fun of it. Although this is not smart; because if you horse stumbles into a hole; then both of you are going to end up on the ground ! Ha ! If you see the painting "Scotland Forever" ( or the charge of the Scots Greys at Waterloo by Lady Butler ) you will see how fast I had my horse going ! Ha ! [ I was kind of foolish , when younger ! ]
An excellent piece of software ; if you don't already have it, is Malwarebytes for your Computer. This will stop you from going to bad websites accidentally; as it will give you a message "You don't really want to go there" and it has additional scans which work on top of your antivirus. ( I don't get anything from them; I just think it is an excellent piece of software ) it also stops people from using your PC for some nefarious purposes . !
I better end this as the system might log me off again !
I forgot to say I am writing the book; so that it might be adapted into a movie
later if it is picked up ( and I am so lucky !) HA !

I'm tempted to record an album of some of the best versions, make some fun music videos travelling round France to go with them...
That sounds wonderful! If you do that recording and/or make the videos, I hope you would be willing to share them with us—at least to the extent that your anonymity would be preserved, of course.

I spent a great deal of my career writing software for companies in various industries. I've joked with friends that only three people in a company know the true financial health of it - the CEO, CFO and the programmer. It's amazing the amount of information we can get unaudited.

I worked at a debt collection agency for several years and wrote their collection software. Once it went into production and was monitoring it, I saw the insane amount of money the agency brought in daily. The owner notoriously underpaid his people except for the select few at the top (I could see their salaries). I used it as leverage to demand a big raise or I would walk. He was unaware I could see this information. It worked. He doubled my salary and it allowed me to afford my first house.

I also wrote software to deliver airport staff a protocol to mitigate an emergency situation at one of the largest airports in the US, on the ground or in the air. Once real data was starting to be input into the system, I was shocked at the amount on incidents that occur with aircraft that we never hear about. Hydraulic problems, navigation system problems, smoke or at least the smell of smoke in the cockpit, etc. None ended with "disaster" but it sure did enforce my fear of flying.

I sure hope so. The movies for the last 10 or 15 years are mostly awful EXCEPT for the occasional good one that was adapted from a novel, because the novelists can tell a good story. Hollywood is pretty much dead to me, so I rely on the independents to make good original movies, and they often do.

I have also discovered BritBox on my TV so I can watch British shows. I find their dramas to be very good and the plots well developed. Not all of them, but many.
