Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out

Back when my youngest son was 14, he wanted Guitar Hero for Christmas, which was an interactive video game where you had "kinda" a guitar attached to the game console, and the TV displays a continual stream of notes to play. It had a variety of rock songs, some fairly easy and some extremely difficult. "Take Me Out" was very fun to play and at the time was the first time I had heard it. Of course, Dad had to challenge his kid and we both eventually got through the entire song.

Neither of us were ever able to make it through Guns and Roses "Sweet Child O' Mine" Great guitar playing in that song!

Gods, that accent, it’s almost like being “back home”…

Very very "Glaswegian"...

Love it...
So you do know them! Tether is the first song I ever heard from them, way back in September of 2013.

CHVRCHES - Tether (live)

The Mother We Share is another classic of theirs. It's pretty neat to go back and watch the evolution of their performances of that song (or any of them). Stripped down to the elements at first, but growing in sophistication.

CHVRCHES - The Mother We Share

(live in 2012, when they were still "Churches")

(2013 on KEXP radio)

(2014 at Radio 1's Big Weekend)

(2015 alternate version on KROQ radio)

(2016 at Reading?)

Couldn't find a good, TMWS-only clip from 2017

(2018 at the Greek Theatre)

(2019 on tour in Osaka Japan)

Ok, my most very favorite CHVRCHES videos…

Sounds of home, courtesy of a tiny Scottish goddess...

CHVRCHES - Miracle (Official Video)

“Tell me tell me you'll keep me Tell me tell me you'll meet me Will you meet me more than half way yeah"

Omigod, hell yeah, anytime, anywhere…

CHVRCHES - Clearest Blue

CHVRCHES - Leave A Trace

Lauren has this “pale” “dark eyed”, “elfin”, Scottish West coast Celtic “look”, that for me, is beyond “Kryptonite”, to me, it’s just “lethal”…

It’s a “look” I have “fallen” to, so many times, and would “fall” to again, in the merest of “heartbeats”…

A “split second” “glance”, that would “last an hour”, and we’d be, “undone”…

Frank Sinatra "Some Enchanted Evening"

No goddamit, not agaaaaaaiiinnnn, nooooooo…

But, but...

She is, really sort of...

Elfin

"she looked up at him with an elfin grin"
synonyms:
elflike · elfish · elvish · [more]

relating to elves.
"an enchanted world of fairies in elfin glades"

NOUN
archaic
an elf.
a small North American butterfly that is typically brownish with markings on the wing margins that give the impression of scalloped edges.

A stunning young lady, for 31.

Some “ear candy’ for you…

Listen, and be “bewitched”…

CHVRCHES' Lauren Mayberry: The Joan of Arc of pop music

I'm just saying Tolkien much preferred the spelling Elven vs Elfin And with his being a writer and philologist I tend to agree

And from that video (around 7:15) it seems she doesn't appreciate being called that anyway
For more insight into her intellectual faculties (which are considerable) I recommend listening to the Nerdist podcast episode she was a guest on:
