Woohoo Untouchables! Love that movie. My opinion on fast cars is a bad opinion. You have a car and it can go fast. So what stay in 3rd gear your whole time driving? You can't help but go fast like my friends dad says. My friend has an Acura RSX, I don't like it because your fitting me and 4 others inside from school and then him driving 2 the speed limit on a small street. Thats why I want an SUV for safety and when I go upstate NY skiing. Snow baby. 4 wheel drive!

LoL, the manual Vette has a solenoid that locks out 2nd and 3rd, forcing you to shift from 1st to 4th unless you keep the revs high (i.e., you are using the torque for performance acceleration).

Reason? This saves enough on fuel consumption that the vehicle is able to avoid the gas guzzler tax.

How screwed up can you get. It needs the solenoid to avoid the tax, requiring the driver to launch at performance levels in order to go sequentially through the gears. Of course, for a few dollars, you can have the solenoid "surgically" disabled.

But then again, a Z06 can go from 0 to 60 all in first gear!
And get this, it can actually start from 0 in sixth gear and go all the way to about 190..all in sixth gear!

I got a few things to say about what people are saying on this thread (longer than i wanted) first of all why get a car that will go that fast because you will be running lower RPM at normal traveling speed thus getting better mileage still not very good and as ogre said better accel, braking, and handling, and yes i have two vehicles (Jetta VR6 and Kawasaki EX500) that want to drive at about 80 or so and the bike accually gets better mileage at 80 than doing the speed limit (60 mpg instead of 55)

second hybrids are good and all but you go and buy a diesel Jetta or other car and you are getting 55 MPG and you have good accel along with the ability to due 140 mph

and third yes the Hummer is completely stupid they are ugly (my opinion), bad mileage, small inside usage, and utterly uncapable offroad usage (wrangler beat it in every aspect including the sand) independent suspension uhg.....(all thou the wrangler is the only thing short of a one ton with solid front axles made now)
