Does she really want that super fame ? I doubt it . France is her home , say you were all of a sudden the new JB . Then someone/so-ny told you . . . Well you don't sell well in NY so we aren't going to promote you there and you wont perform any shows there . Let's just focus on all the other states . You'd be like F U and everyone who looks like you ! I'm playin NY ! I'd love nothing better for her to do an all English album and become the next Madonna in popularity . Then again when i sum it all up , i kinda love having this relatively unknown to most lil French superstar all to myself or better yet to say ourselves . All part of her most wonderful charming mystique . The only way i ever see her becoming this worldwide famed success would be - it takes money to make money . She would have to hire the right people to produce and perform the music . Such as pay the JB's , Madonnas , Britney , Jimmy Page , Ozzy ____ fill in the blank - millions to make some masterpiece . There is a reason Hollywood pays superstars the multi-millions to star in the productions because the name/s alone will promote and sell tickets , vids and so on . Does she really want that ? I doubt it or it would happen . . . France is her home so she needs it forever , the success to me is in completion of the projects and continuation of a fabulous career - not measured by sales numbers and world wide concert tours . |

I disagree. I would lover her to see her return to the prominence from the year of 2000-2004. If she is strong in France she would more likely do concerts, generate more revenue, and continue to be produce albums in the future.
Not saying she will not produce albums if it doesn't happen but I think she would love to return to the popularity she gained from the years of '00-'04.

"Does Alizee Need France to Be Successful? I Say No!"
It all depends on what type of album she is making; thats what I think it comes down to in the long run; but ultimately yes, she needs France to be successful. Her last two albums where failures (though I loved Psychédélices) mostly because of the lack of French sales. Personally I think the only way she could ever completely ignore France would be to produce it in a different country and language and I am confident she will never do that!

However, with that said... I don't think France is needed in order to produce sales, just more fans! Of course, it helps to speak a language that is more widely used and known and that is used in the greater parts of 1st world countries with fans and money to spend. However, it's not like French is a dying and ugly language either. I think with the correct promotional skills Alizée could sell very well. It's a shame she has never done a concert in the United States.... or at least Canada ...

I've been wondering something the last few days... I haven't looked into yet, or researched it any, and sometime if I feel like it I might. I hear all the time that French culture can be a little mysterious to non-French folks, and I wondered if any kind of anti-Corsica sentiment might exist silently there even among just a few. Not saying there is, just wondering. Listening through my Alizée playlist today I was thinking that many of the songs from Gourmandises were so catchy that any alleged anti-this or that sentiment was so overpowered by said catchyness.
Any thoughts on this, or am I just full of it? |
