Thumbs up Woohoo, I'm going to Paris!

Yup, it's true, I'm leaving for Paris at the end of the month. So, now I just have to try and plan what to see when I'm there. Only in Paris for... 3 days, so I have a limited of time. So I'm turning to you guys... help me. What should I do when I'm there, what should I see? Have my doubts about finding Alizée and convincing her to leave Jeremy and return to Norway with me, but hey... let's try to keep an optimstic mind.

But seriously, apart from the obvious Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame, Champs-Élysées, Arc de Triomphe etc, what is a must to see/experience?

Thumbs up

I had a very enjoyable experience just eating in all of the restaurants and cafes when I was there. Because meeting people in restaurants/corner cafes and chatting with them there is a part of their culture, there are over 12,000 (restaurants/corner cafes) in Paris. And I found that the corner restaurant is just a little more expensive that the fast food joints.

Don't forget to experience the nightlife club scene. Achille, Brigitte and Gabriella took me to a different club every night and I loved them all. I don't remember the names, it's been almost a year now.

I stayed over by the Eiffel Tower, near a street called "Rue Cler." It was real nice, we got fresh food there every day from the markets, much better than their supermarket food. Don't forget to check out the cheese shops (Fromagerie) as they (the French) are very big into different cheeses. I wish we had some Fromageries over here, in the Seattle area. I was only there for a week but loved the entire experience.

Oh... try to make an attempt to speak their language to them even if you can't because they are a very proud people (even after the world cup loss,) especially about their language. They'll appreciate it.

When in doubt about anything use this phrase:

Alizee est la plus belle femme au monde!!! Oui, vraiment. Je sais!

Which translates to:

Alizee is the most beautiful woman in the world!!! Yes, really. I know!

At least it worked for me, someone who has an American accent and barely speaks french. You might get a few strange looks but a lot of laughs also. It's a great ice-breaker. So if you want to order a sandwich and don't know what the hell the waiter is saying back to you, say the above phrase.

Hope this helps.

My favorite spot in Paris is the Père Lachaise cemetery in the 20th arrondissement. A bit morbid, maybe, but each one of the thousands of graves there is a unique work of art. Put them all together, and the place is absolutely breathtaking. You can also go hunting for the tombs of famous figures!

In terms of a good meal, Alizée pointed me in the direction of a great little gem in her list of favorite places for Gala magazine:

LA CAFETIERE
21, rue Mazarine, Paris 6e
Tél. : 01 46 33 76 90
"Très original."

It's small and hard to find, but worth the search for a quality mid-priced supper. Just avoid the beef pattie - too much onion. Get the chocolate mousse for dessert, it's amazing.

Have fun in Paris!

The Louvre Museum, thats a must see. If i ever went to Paris, i would hit that place first, then the Eiffel Tower. We got a small eiffel tower here in las vegas on the Strip at the Paris Casino, lol actually its half-size of original.

From pictures I have seen.. i dont think Jeremy and Alizee stayed at the Paris casino when they came here to get married. From the pictures and what I have read, it seemed they stayed at the Excalibur Casino.

I guess real french wouldnt be caught dead in a fake eiffel tower or paris themed casino, lol

Nooooooooooooo!!! Guess what... I'm at home now. Yes, at home... in Norway... not in Paris. *sob* My dad got us some cheaper tickets due to where he works, but now the airline didn't want to take us back home on Sunday, so we couldn't go. (my dad HAVE TO be at work this monday!) Hehe, but ok, if we had payed full price for the tickets it wouldn't have been a problem, but who can afford that?

So yeah... I'm realy bummed out! I was sooo looking forward to this. Only light in this far too dark tunnel, is that I finally got my Alizée in concert dvd today.

Nope, I'm stuck here. Can't wait to get a chance to get away for a bit, and I have definately not given up on Paris just yet.
