I've never been to anything similar to Sunn O))) thats for sure, it was like standing in the depths of hell listening to the soundtrack of armageddon.
Gorgoroth was also great, they really created an evil and harsh atmosphere.

I'm considering tagging along my friend's return to California (was visiting Europe) on September 29. Apparently one of the dates of Ensiferum's upcoming tour with Amon Amarth, Belphegor, and some other band, is scheduled to hit California. Tough decision, i'd be shelling out a lot of cash.

Oh, let's see, the first one ever was Billy Idol with another band that got pretty big as opener, but I can't remember exactly. That was a pretty cool show as I recall.
Maroon 5 (2)- they are very good live (opened with The Hives once, also pretty fun)
Rob Thomas and Anna Nalick
and bunch of bands at three of the "A Day in the Zone" outdoor concerts in Sacramento
can't remember all, too late, Switchfoot was one, Scott Stapp, Smash Mouth, and various others that don't start with S. :-) Other stuff I can't remember...
