Should I be Worried?

Guys I need some advice from you, please help if you can!
First I get someone who posses as my new roommate at my University, but the University says they didn't give room assignments yet. So one how does this guy know my first and last name and my email and all that stuff. 2nd Citibank calls me up today saying "you just called about losing your citibank card" I reply " Ummmmmm Noooooo........ I didn't call anyone today." I ask everyone in my house (my mother, brother and father) and they said they never called anyone today. So I tell the lady once again "I didn't call you sorry." The lady goes "Ok that's strange I don't know; have a good day; bye." I don't know what the EF is going on but should I be worried? I don't have a credit card yet but I realize someone can still mess up your credit even if you don't have one yet. Could someone be robing my identity? What should I do about this guys? The best thing you can do is go to your bank and see what the call was about and i guess work with the bank to get the situation resolved.

yeah that's what I did, I called them, and they said they just think it was a mistake. They will call me if anything comes up. Thanks man for your help! Cheers bro

thief doesnt know if you have a credit card or an atm card so he calls in and says he lost it assuming you do have one.
you can call credit agencies and have them alert you of any new attempts to buy stuff.

protect your info too. dont give it out.

check online bank statements as often as you can

see if there has been any activity that's not from you

also see if the bank calls you if there has been a huge amount taken out of your account

once a spent a ton of money on books, school stuff and clothes on one day and my bank called me to see if everything was okay

maybe you can tell your bank to do the same if there is unusual activity in your account
