Alizee- Singing in English
Hi, im all new to this n this is my first post, but i was looking on youtube and came across Alizee singing in english. On the posts it was a two way battle with an equal number of people saying she is better singing in french and shouldn't bother in english and the other saying the opposite. Personally i think she sounds fine in both english and french, but am asking what you lot think, seen as you know what your going on about.

You got it right my good sir. People are quick to bet two subjects into mindless competition, and before you know it, those people fight the war and not the subjects. In this case, it is her art of music and the tongue of choice.
Personally, French is my choice, she captivated me with another language and that drew me in, it is sort of a hidden curtain of mystery that created part of the bewitchment. I often like a lot of vocal work that I preferably don't understand (Finntroll, Opeth, etc.). However, her singing in English, which is not very smooth and textured as her French, is not a bad attempt. The people who defend her English however, are at that stage and point where they are in a limerent or head-over-heels state that they are easy to bewitch by Alizée by any thorough means. Personally, the people thinking she sings better in English don't have much leverage over the people who think she sings better in French. I love them both, but just so you and they know, i'd rather let Alizée decide what language she sings in, and of course, the expected answer can be, French.

She has (of course) a better command of French, which is her native language. Her accent when singing in English is noticeable, and she makes occasional errors in pronunciation and emphasis. But let's not nitpick. I grin every time I hear her do it. And -- for comparison and fairness -- check out this: http://youtube.com/watch?v=fm5S9EqGiIc Most of this song is in English, but Enya sings a few bars in French at the bridge. Hear it and wince.

Wince? Was it really that bad?
Anyway, I prefer Alizée singing English songs in English, but her songs in French. I like her singing the English songs because my command of French is minimal, and I get the full feel of her expression through the English song. However, her French songs have not been translated well so I prefer to hear these in French.
