LMAO! Ppl saying they either don't like the song or are on the fence. These are similar comments to when Psychédélices & initial teasers first came out. And now those nay-sayers can't get enough of Psychédélices. The artist can't go pleasing everyone -- damn if you do, damn if you don't. Hold onto your judgments until you hear the entire album.
IMO, Gourmandises & MCE belong to the Mylene Era (her & Laurent's master piece & Lili the voice fronting their work -- yes, she gave her input but we all know who pieced those ideas into what we all love today). Psychédélices is Lili trying to spread her wings and find her sound (I say this because my initial impression was that it was so scattered & hitting various genres). UEDS is what I believe to be Lili narrowing her focus down a bit to form a consistent sounding album but only until we hear the whole album will we know for sure. Stay tune folks... next up, Les Collines (Never Leave You)!

Hey, nice to see you around, nurvonic ! ! !
So does anyone think there is any significance to the fact that Alizée did a song in English, or is it simply a song that happens to be in English?

Well Im very surprised she released a single in English, I dunno what she is trying to shoot for, but its an interesting proposal. Makes me think.."does she want to re-enter the UK market...the US market??, who knows but I like it.

I'm at work and can't download the song here so I'll have to wait until I get home to hear the whole thing. But it seems to me that leading with an English song may be a sign that she is interested in breaking into the Anglophone music market. Which would be altogether

But most of the English songs in the past were either covers she did for TV shows, or poor alternatives to a few of her French songs. This appears to be a song written in English from the ground up. I hope you guys are right that she is doing this in part, to possibly enter Anglophone markets. She might also have done it because it seemed a relevant thing to do considering the subject matter of the album and where the story takes place.
I hope, and I am confident that most of this album will be in French. I think most of us prefer that. But if nothing else, an English song could be seen as acknowledgment of her English speaking fans.

I adore this track!
Why wouldn't an album about Edie have a few English songs? Makes perfect sense to me. |
