My english dictionary translates it as "to set the fashion/to set the tone/to give the ton". Hope you understood what it means.

Aha, this makes sense. This is what you do at the beginning of an orchestral concert; the lead violin plays an "A" note, and everyone tunes his/her instrument against it.

Thanks to those who came before, but what's there is not quite accurate in all places. Not that mine will be, but here's the translation that I'm currently using. There are some figurative meanings to things that I could easily have missed. I am going to have to post in addition with interpretations of certain parts later. Maybe I'll even try to translate the interpretations of some people from psychalizee. I think this song is heavy on analogy.

*1 something like that assuming "unefille_enForme_deFée" from psychalizee is correct in hearing "concrétise"
*2 means to "have it in for". That is, the melancholy is going to be attacked. An interesting way of saying she's taking an upbeat attitude.
*3 the word colimaçon can sometimes be used to refer to a snail, presumably as a reference to it's spiral shape.
*4 not quite sure if it simply means that or something else
*5 prendre le large means to go off-shore, as in what a sailor would do, but it is used figuratively to mean run away or take off. So, it sounds like she's breaking up with her man here.
*6 filon is used as a mineral vein and thus often used like mother lode in a gold mine.
*7 "prendre son envol" means to leave the nest as in when one leave the parents' house to live as an adult. Therefore it is refering to taking the flight in that sense. Coquillage means shellfish, like a nautilus.
*8 One French person suggested this means, " despite the fact she is with a guy, her mind is with the stars" though it literally means, "I'm being felt (by others) over there"
*9 As Fiat Stilo suggested, "donner le la" means to set the tone, a more literal translation than some considering the la refered to is the musical note. This is a common expression. I don't know, but maybe she's just saying she's nervous.
*10 "creux de la vague" literally means the trough of a wave, but this is the figurative meaning here.
*11 the somewhat controversial part of the song. This word enfoiré has a negative meaning something like bastard; so, that's good enough. Though some might translate with a harsher word. It really depends a lot on how the word is being used, especially since the popular comedian Coluche associated it with a widely popular charity event.
