I'm pretty sure most of her "non-songs" are lip synced. Off the top of my head, those would include: Ella Ella L'a, Hung Up, La Isla Bonita and Love is All. As are those performances of JEAM and JPVA that involve her dancing, En Concert being the exception.

I'm sure that there were 2 reasons Alizée lip synched. The first is because she dances so much and the second, I think she lip synchs her English songs, because there's more of a chance of making a mistake due to it not being her native language.

Someone in AF or it might have been in this forum recently said they heard that both Madonna and Janet Jackson both said, "You can have great singing, or you can have a great performance, but you can't have both.

I've often run into people who I'll show one of Alizée's videos. Usually it's one where she does one of her great dances and it's not long before they say "Is she lip synching?". Well all I do is show them a couple of her performances from En Concert and that usually shuts them right up.

I looked on line to see if I could find that quote by Madonna I mentioned above. I found this article about lip synching and it has a part in where they mention those 2 singers and what they said and it looks like what I said above was kind of a loose interpretation of what they actually said, but I think in general it's accurate,

http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2004/...&oneclick=true

and this is one paragraph from that article.

"They also want to see an extravaganza. Artists like Madonna and Janet Jackson set new standards for showmanship, with concerts that included not only elaborate costumes and precision-timed pyrotechnics, but also highly athletic dancing. These effects came at the expense of live singing. "

Ahhh I remember that now, yes she was very out of breath...I couldn't imagine her singing and dancing the JEAM at same time. That is probably why she didn't do the full dance for JEAM in En Concert, or else she would have been out of breath while singing and dancing.

And man...Alizee speaks so softly I usually have trouble hearing her in her early videos since she doesn't really speak loud.

And yeah ScruffyDog you are right that it is better for her to do a better performance and not sing, yah you can't do both almost perfect at same time.

I know that some artists do lip-sync during live shows with a "live version" of his/her show. I mean, they record themselves singing live (without dancing or moving)and the band playing live,(no audience), so when the real live shows come, they don´t lip-sync to the album version and they can dance.
Having said that, that doesn´t have to do anything with Alizée, and probably artists don´t use that process anymore nowdays.

The fact that we have trouble to be sure if she is singing live or not in some performances only says good things about her capacity, in my opinion. I don´t pretend to keep the discussion going on, i just like Aaronius´ list idea.

I think a list of not lip-synced performances could be interesting, people like me could find new material... so i start with some live performances of "Moi Lolita"
(Sorry for posting all the vids like this, there is not "spoiler" button!)

Singers have to be trained to take breaths at the right time in order to not break up the singing, and it takes a lot of practice and breath. Now if you add in the extra dancing and general moving about you would have a massive slip up.

I've tried holding my breath when lifting at work. Even with the deepest breath I can only walk about 15 feet and then I need to breath again. Obviously I'm larger and I was carrying something, but still, the point is it is not very easy at all to move about and sing at the same time.

The only people who could do it would be the one's that have a resting heartrate of like... 25bpm of something. Not only are they incredibly rare, generally they are not that attractive and don't usually train to be singers

How can u really tell if Alizee is lipsyncing? I wondered about same issue, and other than her Generation 2000 performance (2011), i cant even tell. I do believe that Enconcert 2004 tour was all Live Singing, well i think.
