Default Stories

I thought we needed a thread for stories of things that have happened to us due to Alizée, her music, etc. Here's a little one of mine to lead off.

When I'm writing, I like to have music playing in the background, usually through my headphones so as not to bother my housemates. Normally I play instrumentals or classical music, because if people are singing lyrics, the words of the songs can interfere with the words I'm trying to write. But yesterday, I decided to try playing some of Lili's music while I worked. I thought maybe, if I didn't focus on trying to think in French, it would just be music, and I could write in English without difficulty.

It mostly worked. But at one point, while Moi ... Lolita was playing as I was working on a dialogue passage, I found myself typing, "IT'S NOT MY FAULT!" Which was not what that character was supposed to be saying there.

I decided to keep it, though, because it actually worked better than what he was going to say. And at least it didn't come out in French.

Alright, here goes...

I don't know french, but the other night I asked my girlfriend (who knows french) to speak to me in french just to see how much I'd understand. I was able to pick apart almost half of what she said! Granted, I know spanish which might help, but I think Alizée's french has changed me - I can recognize many french words now. Because of my experience and, of course, Alizée, I've been thinking about picking up a little french in my spare time.

Likewise, I took 4 years of French in High school, but I wouldn't call myself proficiant. All throughout though I had wanted to get some french music, but I could never find anything I liked, then thanks to my bro's girlfriend posting a link to night elves on wikipedia on her livejournal I found Alizee in the "random trivia" Her music instantly re kindled my love of French. I imediatly ordered both her cd's and have been listening to her severl hours a day sence. ...just yesterday I listend to here "La Isla Bonita" vidio on here for 3 hours stgraight @_@ Speaking of... does anyone know of a way I could get that in mp3 form or something similar?

.WAV files from videos:

Download Virtualdub-MPEG2, open the video in it, click Audio/FullProcessingMode, then click File/SaveWAV.

.MP3 file from .WAV:

Download LamedropXPd utility and just drag-and-drop the WAV file there.
