How did a banana peel end up being the symbol for slipping? I mean, if you really step on one, it just mushes.

Just kinda happened... how did rice come to represent Asians when pretty much every other race has rice as an important part of their cuisine?
I know that in 1900 or something some comedian actually wrote down a joke about a banana peel, but I think it was used earlier than that

Depends on the region where you live. In the tropical regions, people have rice most of the time, while people of temperate regions give equal importance to rice and wheat.

Right, but it still makes sense for rice to represent Asians, because Asians eat more rice, proportionately, than any other race. I mean yes, rice is found in other cultural cuisines, but not to the extent it's found in Asian cuisine.

Yeah, consumption, importance and variety of dishes is much higher for Asians.
