Aren't 3D movies darker than 2D movies? I find it hard to like movies when it's dim. My eyesight is not very good and maybe that's the main reason for that.

5. HAVE YOU NOTICED THAT 3-D SEEMS A LITTLE DIM? Lenny Lipton is known as the father of the electronic stereoscopic-display industry. He knows how films made with his systems should look. Current digital projectors, he writes, are “intrinsically inefficient. Half the light goes to one eye and half to the other, which immediately results in a 50 percent reduction in illumination.” Then the glasses themselves absorb light. The vast majority of theaters show 3-D at between three and six foot-lamberts (fLs). Film projection provides about 15fLs. The original IMAX format threw 22fLs at the screen. If you don’t know what a foot-lambert is, join the crowd. (In short: it’s the level of light thrown on the screen from a projector with no film in it.) And don’t mistake a standard film for an IMAX film, or “fake IMAX” for original IMAX. What’s the difference? IMAX is building new theaters that have larger screens, which are quite nice, but are not the huge IMAX screens and do not use IMAX film technology. But since all their theaters are called IMAX anyway, this is confusing.
Personally my experience with 3D movies haven't been very good so far. Apart from movies being dim, wearing 2 pair of glasses isn't always comfortable either.

Just got home from seeing " Cabin in the woods". FANTASTIC.

Cabin was written and produced by the same guy who directed Avengers, do if you liked his style, he throws an awesome twist on the horror movie. Now I will say, this movie, is absolutely hilarious. You will be laughing the whole time. So if you want a die hard scary movie, this isn't for you.

The story is VERY good, and original, it really blew me away.

Same. It feels awkward and I often have to position it in such a way so that the 3D glasses don't keep slipping off. Very annoying and I always end up taking them off halfway through the film.

Don't read me wrong here i'm not trying to defend whatever movie you're refering to but they had a special today on the weather channel about " How weather changed history " and Operation Eagle Claw - the Iran hostage crisis - of course you can watch some of it online but the part im refering to below isn't online so maybe you can catch it on the weather channel .

Part of the story is about Charles Beckwith -

AK47
Cartridge
7.62×39mm M43/M67

This guy got shot with a 50MM and survived -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Alvin_Beckwith

" In Vietnam, Beckwith commanded a Special Forces unit code-named Project DELTA. He was critically wounded in early 1966 (he took a .50 caliber bullet through his abdomen). It was so bad that medical personnel initially triaged him as beyond help.[6] After recovery, he took over the Florida Phase of the US Army's Ranger School, transforming it from a scripted exercise based upon the Army's World War II experience, into a Vietnam-oriented training regimen. "

anyway , the human body is an amazing thing . Just look at Alizée !

To whomever it may concern, a 50MM and a .50 cal are two different things. 50mm is like a grenade round.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_89_grenade_discharger

A .50 caliber is closer to around 13mm.

And no, a 7.62 to COM, even at point blank, is not automatic death. It may not be pleasant and you probably are going to have some issues if you survive, but it isn't a guarantee death.

Anyways...

This was on tv for Memorial Day. One of my favorites of all time:
