there are things that are given and don't need to talk about.I guess common since isn't common.RMJ said the "logo" well where i come from logo's aren't used as people names.

Maybe we will see her release under alias Alizée Jacotey...

But doesn't she hold the right to use her own name. That would be ridiculous if she isn't allowed to use her own name.

Her or not, it's used as trademark and if RP doesn't want her to use it she can't.

RP has registered her name spelled with uppercase, ALIZÉE, and the logo Alizée.

And even she didn't use those exact forms, since it's the same business area, it could be legally denied even if it just reminds them. Tho, if it would go to court she'd prolly win it since it's her old trademark and it's derived from her name so it would make sense to let her to use it.

While logos and specific visual appearances can be trademarked, someone's legal name cannot, in a way that denies the person to use the name. Such a claim would never stand up in court.

I agree with Deepwaters. Typically, an artist signs over the right to use their name and likeness for promotional purposes to the record/publishing companies. This does not give those companies exclusive control over the artist's name.

Alizée may need to change the logo, but I don't know why RP wouldn't just let her use it. Any future success she may have will just help to sell more of her older stuff, which they will profit from. I'm sure some of her new fans will want to buy all her CD's once they're hooked.
