Ok, so far ...
How many records has Alizée sold ? I know Gourmandises sold 2 millions records within its first 3 or 4 months of release and MCE sold about 500 000 in its first year of release. But that was over 3 years ago, so does anybody know how much has she sold in total since her albums' release up to today, care to share plz ?

Actually, those numbers are only for France. Both Gourmandises and Mes Courants Électriques sold over 4 000 000 copies each worldwide. If we count the singles in, I'd say that Alizée has sold between 15 and 20 million copies.

Well, we know that Mylène made ten million Euros of Alizée, but I don't know how much an artist usually gets vs. the producer. Anybody have a clue?

Well, managers get 10% off the top in most cases. If that is 10% then that means Lili got 90,000,000 Euros. But once you have figured in other costs and all the other people that might get a cut of the profit it will drop. Either way Lili made a good profit.

Yes, but Mylène wasn't her manager, Olivier was (or is?). Mylène and Laurant owned the rights to all her songs and were her producers, so probably earned more than Lili. i could be very much mistaken though...

Well, I'm sure Lili didn't get nearly as much as €90M. Especially in this case, where Mylène was far more than a producer, but also a mentor and writer. In fact, I'd go so far to say that Alizée couldn't have made more than 20 million Euros. Remember, Mylène was not replaceable at that time.

It's too complicated to post here, but the following article will explain it in some detail. It covers mainly the record sales part of the equation. Recoupment is a very important issue for the artist. This info is based on industry standard practices, it is possible Alizée got a better deal, but it's highly unlikely.
Keep in mind, MF/LB were both the publishers and song writers. Therefore, they get the percentages due to both those functions. Alizée is the performer and therefore only gets that percentage. The money issue gets more cloudy in regards to her compensation for live performances and merchandising. I have no idea what she might have earned for that. http://www.meiea.org/Journal/html_ve...4_No_1_A5.html Last edited by lefty12357; 08-06-2007 at 10:28 PM.. |

As long as they gave Lili what they owed her I am happy. I hate it how some people try to cheat other people out of money. I doubt Mylene would do that to Lili, but since Mylene was, as Espire said, irreplaceable at the time she was probably chargng a high price for her services.

I'm sure she was paid what she was legally owed under the contract.
If she sold 15 million copies and made an average of 10 cents royalties per copy, that would work out to €1,500,000; likely it was more than that, but even under the most unfair contracts, you can't sell as many records as Alizée has and not make money.
