60 Minutes / Coldplay

I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but did anyone else see that 60 minutes bit on Coldplay last night 8/16/09.

I figured it was going to be some fluff piece, they're so good, they're so great...yatta....yatta...yatta.

But I would of never of thought they would actually addressed the plagiarism stuff.

Check it out, right around 3:45 ish. I wonder if one of the "2 artists" referenced is our girl?

I think they are talking about "Creaky Boards" and "Joe Satriani".

I'm surprised that she's not ever mentioned (she's hardly ever mentioned even on the Youtube videos), because her song is in the same key and has the strings at the beginning, people on this forum have even claimed that they think it's J'en ai marre when they hear VLV on the radio. I think Joe Satriani's song isn't even similar in the least bit, I mean I know what they are referring to in IICF, but come on.

In reference to the "two artists", it has become so easy anymore to just deny anything unless they catch you dead to rights, and even then, people will deny it.

Personally, I don't believe these guys AT ALL!
I believe they have ripped off Alizée and there is nothing that will change my mind short of absolute proof showing there is no doubt that it just " a coincident".

Being from Europe, you know they heard her music. They probably figured that she isn't "that popular", so who is going to press us on it.

Well, "being from Europe" you'd think I would have found out about Alizée before 2008.

Don't feel bad. I was just lucky that a friend of mine from Europe emailed me about Alizée about 5 years ago.
Alizée, first, and other French pop artists are all I care to listen too these days.

BTW I really don't think J'en ai Marre sounds anything like Viva la Vida or Satriani's song.

Yeah, I saw that video a few months ago and almost flamed the guy for calling her that...but then I remembered this was SloTube and let it go.

There used to be great mash-ups of all three songs together, but then EMI had them pulled--for copyright violation. How ironic.

It's all art and what sounds the best is subjective.
Personally I stopped caring for Coldplay when they became too popular, but I always respect and support Joe Satriani. Of course I think the idea of pressing any legal action is pointless, in the end you're not going to change any minds.
