A 400 year-old map of Corsica
Hello, everyone!
I haven't anything very special to say here, but I thought that probably anyone in this forum would have thought the same things about the matter, so here is this thread! I spent a few days in Rome with my friends this week and now I'm going home by train; but I'd like to let you see this old maps. On the second day of this brief holiday, we went to the Vatican museums: you know, the Sistine Chapel, Stanze di Raffaello and things like that. Actually the museums are pretty large, there is way more stuff than just that. If you ever went to Rome, you must visit these museums: there are many beautiful things and masterpieces, but mentally prepare for a couple of hours of slow walking and standing still. Your feet will hurt. Actually, there was a good thing about the current situation of the world for this visit: the tourist guid told us that, before the pandemic, there were 25.000 people a day in the museums and "sometimes you couldn't even see the floor!". That day there were still many people, but I guess it is normal. Anyway, among all the beautiful statues, paintings and (even) a tapestry room, there is also this: The gallery of maps   It is a 120m long gallery that was made in 1580. The walls on both sides are covered by maps (all the territories of the italian peninsula and islands)... And there was Corsica too!  As soon as I entered the gallery I couldn't wait to find its map. Luckily it was there. Eh eh    Note the orientation of it. :O You can even find the beautiful... Agiazo?! And if you are curious to see the whole peninsula, here it is:   (these are the best angles I could find) You must admit that they had some pretty decent satellites back then.  I didn't want to post just the map and, also, travelling may be boring, so thank you for your time!
