Not truly a French movie, but I just LOVE the opening scene of Team America

It's annoying how they all sound like South Park characters. Those guys need to hire real voice actors.

To be perfectly honest, some of the dolls in Alizée's video Parler tout bas freak me out. Remind me of some linebackers I've seen over the years.

Scruffy, I'm confused. You've seen linebackers that look like creepy dolls?

Anyway, Hi, Scruff! Howya doin'? Hi Doc, Hi Deepwaters too. @Wasabiiiiiiiiii!!!!! J-Man!!!!! Jungmané!!!! Everybodéeeeee!!!!!!!!!

I guess I'm like "on vacation", but I'm stopping by (in a loud Hawaiian shirt) to mention a couple specific movies that one of our brothers in France had recommended we get for my store (so we did) ...

(Note that the French only capitalize the first letter of titles. Even if it's "L-apostrophe". Weird, right?)

Ascenceur pour l'échafaud ("Elevator to the Gallows", a.k.a. Frantic, Louis Malle, 1958) Just watch Jeanne Moreau unravel. And just keep it together. And not. Just watch it.

La fille sur le pont ("The Girl On The Bridge", Patrice Leconte, 1999) Watch Vanessa Paradis and Daniel Auteuil unravel. And reravel. And unravel. And reravel. Oddly, poignantly, all in B/W. Just watch this one, too. If you can find it, you'll thank me.

Se souvenir des belles choses ("Remember The Beautiful Things" or "Beautiful Memories", Zabou Breitman, 2001) Isabel Carré unravels. Gets committed. Meets the ugly/charming Bernard Campan, who's already unraveled. They fall in love, then unravel together for a while. Warning: At least for dvd region 1 (n. america), there are no subtitled versions of this disk available. Which made me realize...

... A really neat way to learn some French: Watch a French movie with the subtitles on once or twice, then watch it without them once or twice or thrice. (This may even work for other languages besides French.)

Anyway, gotta go. Bye, all!
