I wouldn't be in France right now, I'd still be selling burgers at McDonalds, be living in a crappy apartment not my own house, would still have a drinking problem, and wouldn't have quit smoking.

I think about it like this. If i didn't know about Alizee I obviously wouldn't miss her, therefore i'd probably be happy. I just happened to make a great discovery at the right time.

It wouldn't be completely the same for me. I wouldn't have increased desire to travel, wouldn't care to learn a new language, and wouldn't care about the French culture in general. Life would be a bit more boring, for sure, and I wouldn't have that smiling face to greet me every time I see my desktop.

If I had never discovered Alizée, then either:
1) I would be miserably depressed, unable to write, and quite possibly dead, or 2) I would have found some other way, or some other person, to pull me out of the emotional disaster I was in at the time.
