Default Youpidou ! More collector goodness.

Yay! I got one of my centerpiece Alizée collectibles today! After waiting five weeks, it arrived in a super well protected double box, complete with bubble-wrap, cardboard packaging, and a wood-shaving pad. Despite being very fragile, it made the trip from Paris in perfect condition. Woot!

I speak of none other than the "Plaque de Plexis-Glass" or "Box Promo" as it is known. Made of plexi-glass, and weighing 1.5 - 2 pounds, it's a jewel case the size of an LP, complete with super-sized pochette (completely accurate large-scale reproduction of real thing, inside and out, made from glossy high quality card-stock), and a normal sized CD.

I may have pissed off my neighbor (drunk from celebrating, I started working on my new bookcase at 23h30... with a hammer), but it was worth it! According to the nidalizée discographie, only 100 were ever made, and being as fragile as they are, many were broken in shipping or while being displayed (it can break under its own weight while open, unless supported on both sides).

Is there a real point to this thread? I'm sure there is... probably I'm just still drunk. Anyway, pictures! Wheee pictures!

Hah, that's awesome. Probably one of the most ill-conceived promo items ever made, but still awesome.

:-D

It would be great except for one thing: in the process of being true to what a jewel case is like, they kept the hinges proportionately short. If they had simply lengthened the pegs, or better yet, put a single hinge rod all the way through, you could probably stop bullets with the thing (though I'd probably being diving in front of it, instead). The back piece can come off as well, if you hold it wrong, but it's not bad - it took me a minute to figure out how.

I don't think this item was meant for handling by the public - just placing on top of something to look nice. It excels at that, it's gorgeous just to look at! :-) I'll be using it to top off my "Mes Courants Electriques" shelves. Hopefully I'll have the "coussin" (pillow) promo soon, to top off my "Gourmandises" shelves.

Ha! It's awesome, but I love the second picture... Youre like waiting for some huge Laser disc, Record, or something, and then BEHOLD a cd... thats funny. It is extremely cool!

Yeah, just the idea of a "giant jewel case" is folly and sends shivers down my spine! They should have made it a giant Super Jewel Box instead!
