hi
well, I already know this, those corsicans are kinda sarcastic sometimes
I agree with you though, I will never say they're all like this, basically there are only victims there, those who die, those who are wounded and those who survive... yep, it's a strange situation with victims who survive and commit suicide when they're back home
it's probably the biggest failure in modern us history, worse than vietnam
that's why there are so many movies about this
I hope I will not contaminate you with my pessimistic vision of things though
cheers

I have yet to see her film, but totally plan on it. I'm a little disappointed the other French films didn't get more recognition, though. "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly" as well as "Persepolis" walked away empty-handed, and both were awesome. Seriously, "Ratatouille" may have been set in Paris, but it was one of the worst Disney/Pixar's I've seen (it won for best animated feature over "Persepolis").

I quite liked "Ratatouille" personally. One of my favorite animated films.

Well . . . not yet.

Hopefully we won't stay there another ten years. I don't want to get this thread locked, so I'll say only a few things here.

1) The behavior of individual soldiers is, by and large, not the problem in Iraq. It's the fact we're there in the first place, the precedents that set (preemptive war is something previously only done by the "bad guys," e.g. Hitler in Poland or the USSR). (I almost said "or France," but France declared war on Germany so that's different.)

2) When we went into Afghanistan, I was all for it. The evidence seemed pretty clear that al-Qaeda was behind the 9/11 attack, and the Taliban was protecting them and giving them support. That was reason enough in my book. But when Bush redirected attention to Iraq, I was disgusted. At the time, from the beginning, my position was "this is wrong." And I have never been angrier at the Democrats in Congress than I was when they lost their collective backbones and voted for this war. Hillary Clinton lost any shred of possibility I might have supported her when she did that.

And that's enough on that. Thanks for the movie tip AC, now I'll have to see that film.

hi
yep, it's cool, rat a too ee in english
ra ta tou i?
how do you learn pronounciation there? do you use those strange signs?
ratatouille is a southern french word, so you should say ra ta tou yeu
I remember the teacher tortured us by writting some words on the black board and then asked us to pronounce them correctly
air, hair, her, heir, etc... boring
cheers

I don't know, I just wasn't as into Ratatouille as the other ones. I love a lot of those movies. I grew up with some of the "classic" Disney cartoons that are already popular again amongst kids (my 4 year-old niece loves Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast etc.). And then when Toy Story came out in the mid-nineties that was a very big deal, and some of my favorites like that are A Bug's Life, Monster's Inc., Ice Age, Finding Nemo, and The Incredibles. The thing is, lots of cartoons and 3-D animated movies are released pretty frequently, and they can't all be good. For a Disney/Pixar movie, I had higher hopes, that's all.

actually those 3D cartoons are an industry in hollywood, pixar releases a new one every year, therefore don't worry, if you didn't like this one I bet you'll like the next one
