Beautiful Places around the World Thread
Post pics of Cool & Beautiful Places around the World (Both Man-made and Nature)!
idden Beach, Marieta Islands, Mexico. Beach of the cathedrals, Spain Real Madrid's Official $1 Billion Resort Island in the UAE The rare image showing both day and night on earth. Amazing! The photograph attached was taken by the crew on board the Columbia during its last mission, on a cloudless day. The picture is of Europe and Africa when the sun is setting. Half of the picture is in night. The bright dots you see are the cities lights. The top part of Africa is the Sahara Desert. Note that the lights are already on in Holland, Paris, and Barcelona, and that's it's still daylight in Dublin, London, Lisbon, and Madrid. The sun is still shining on the Strait of Gibraltar. The Mediterranean Sea is already in darkness. In the middle of the Atlantic Ocean you can see the Azores Islands; below them to the right are the Madeira Islands; a bit below are the Canary Islands; and further South, close to the farthest western point of Africa, are the Cape Verde islands. Note that the Sahara is huge and can be seen clearly both during Daytime and night time. To the left, on top, is Greenland, totally frozen... Fascinating view from the top of Burj-Khalifa Dubai... Gaudi building in Barcelona. Pearl Qatar A mall in Osaka, Japan, built it to bring a little green into the concrete and metal city. Dubai in a whole new light. Amazing! The World's first “groundscraper” - underground luxury hotel in China - Chennaites "Construction began last month on Shanghai’s first “groundscraper”—a structure built almost completely below the surface. The massive project will eventually take form as the InterContinental Shimao Shanghai Wonderland, a 19-story, 380-room luxury hotel surrounded by a 428,000 square-meter theme park."

Those really are nice pictures. I would have thought the twilight line would have been wider. Also, I'm surprised that underwater features in the ocean appear in a visible light image... It looks like the lights are on in Ajaccio! |

Great thread and great pics TDA!!!
Thanks for creating this thread because if you hadn't I would never have seen many of these wonders. Well here's a few more.. this is actually called the icing house.. it can be located on the island of Fuerteventura in Jandia. Fuerteventura is a beautiful island.. I saw this house with my parents many years ago when were on holiday there. I actually thought it looked like a house made of sweets at the time but unfortuantly the photo we took was one of the photo's that never came out. Les îles Sanguinaires in Ajaccio. I've visited this beautiful island these islands too, but offcourse this photo wasn't taken by me. Mount Roraima in Venezuela. This looks like a heavenly place to visit. Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria Germany. This fairy tale castle is actually a top european tourist location that I never knew about until now.

Right now the news in the U.S. is focusing on rioting and bad things that are going on in the middle east... particularly in Northern Africa and neighboring countries... so I thought I show some of the nice things about those countries that the news does not report on... And they urge American's not to go to these places.... Baatara (Balaa) gorge waterfall... Tannourine - Lebanon! Baalbek, Bekaa Valley - Lebanon! Waterfall Afqa Cave - Lebanon! Glacier Bay Alaska
Beautiful Aurora Borealis ice bubbles in the Canadian Rockies Underwater Wave Underwater Waves Make Underwater Weather: After years of patient probing, oceanographers still have only the sketchiest notions about the shape of the drowned, undersea landscape that makes up 70% of the earth's crust. They know even less about undersea "weather"—the currents, eddies and swift temperature changes that sweep across the ocean bottom like winds and storms on land. Not until Columbia University's Hudson Laboratories announced the first direct measurements of deep waves, could oceanographers be sure that the great, lazy surges actually exist. Water bridge across the river Elbe in Germany, it is 1km long, 34m wide and allows cargo ships to cross the river. The Magdeburg Water Bridge is a navigable aqueduct in Germany that connects the Elbe-Havel Canal to the Mittelland Canal, and allows ships to cross over the Elbe River. At 918 meters, it is the longest navigable aqueduct in the world. The Elbe-Havel and Mittelland canals had previous ly met near Magdeburg but on opposite sides of the Elbe. Ships moving between the two had to make a 12-kilometer detour, descending from the Mittelland Canal through the Rothensee boat lift into the Elbe, then sailing downstream on the river, before entering the Elbe-Havel Canal through Niegripp lock. Low water levels in the Elbe often prevented fully laden canal barges from making this crossing, requiring time-consuming off-loading of cargo. Park Keukenhof Near Amsterdam
