Will Une Enfant Du Siecle be succesful?

Been hesitating to get involved in this free-for-all, but I realize now that I have some things to say.

UEDS both was and was not a success. Commercially, it was not, and that's obvious.

Artistically, it was a success. It's gotten some critical acclaim, and speaking as a fellow artist, I can see the creativity and expertise that went into it. It was maybe a little too cerebral for a pop-music audience, too much nuance, not enough slam-in-the-guts.

As such, I would say that from Alizée's point of view it most likely both was and was not a success. It did part of what she wanted, but not other parts. But there's a rule every artist must follow: never regret. You can look back with a critical eye in order to learn something from a project that doesn't quite do what you want it to, but never regret doing it. You fail for good only when you give up.
