I don't celebrate All Hallows Even as it's celebrated today... I think it's too commercial and so far away from it's original meanings that it's not even All Hallows Even anymore, it's some kind of "Buy a $30 costume-in-a-bag, and a bag or two of assorted candies to put in your plastic bowl with the motorized skeleton hand in it... all available at Walmart!" day
The only joy I would get out of All Hallows Eve was in California, where I'd go to my grandma's house (which was deep in the hood) and I'd dress up as something simple (man with rotten head, the grim reaper from Guitar Hero, etc) and just sit on the porch. I'd have fun doing whatever I wanted. The house was arranged so to get to the door you had to walk this backwards 7 shaped walkway (I'd sit motionless on the corner) which one side was bordered by the house, the other by really tall rose bushes and other random flora (so it's an actual hallway, and you can only see me once you come on the property). They'd walk by me, go to the door where my hammered grandma would give out surprisingly good candy (she'll give whole snicker bars to random hoodlums, but doesn't call me on my birthday... nice eh?) Then, I'd do whatever... maybe I'd change into a very obviously different position and weird them out when they came back, or for the older people I'd legitimately jump up and scare the fuck out of them (you have NO idea how many "AH LAWDY!"s and "AYE DIOS MIO!"s I got throughout the years)(now that I think about it that was probably really dangerous... I mean, there were legitimate gangs walking around (in a hood where my grandma's the only whitey) and random people packing heat). I did a good job too, I would wear sunglasses under my mask so when they bent down they wouldn't see mine own little eyes, and I would wrap myself in newspaper underneath the costume so the random pats and pokes I'd get would sound a nice and nonthreatening paper crackle. This past year I went to my first basketball game (and remembered shortly after sitting down "oh wait... I really don't care for sports"), and I don't know what's going on this year... since my nearest neighbor is a 10 minute walk away, and the population of my town is 17 including my family, and the other 12 are seniors) I have no idea what I'm doing this year

I love halloween. I'm going home in an hour just to be in the suburbs for it. The neighborhood usually gets backed up for miles. And the weather is cool but not cold. I love it!

Well Halloween just happens to be on a day I'd go out and watch football anyway so I'll definitely be celebrating.
